This device worked perfectly for over a year before abruptly ceasing to function. I initially thought my base had failed, but the real problem is that the top of the helmet becomes so magnetized over time that it can no longer be relied upon for long periods of time. I take a break from it now and then to demagnetize it, and the problem appears to be solved.
I don't write a lot of reviews. This, however, is superior to what the reviews claim. It's in my office, and my office neighbor is a Michigan fan who suffers from "helmet envy. The Army Hover Helmet I ordered does not function properly, and the issue began after the return deadline had passed. The order was placed on February 20, 2020, with a deadline of March 21, 2020. Even if I just wanted it replaced, I only had one month to return. It will only spin in the opposite direction of the clock. When trying to rotate in a clockwise direction, nothing happens. I tried the helmet on a different stand and got the same result. The issue is unmistakably with the helmet. I believe that a month for return or exchange is ridiculous, as it is clearly insufficient time to ensure that there are no issues. I had no desire for a refund. All I wanted was for it to be swapped out. I'm now stuck with a Hover Helmet that isn't working properly. This Amazon purchase has left me extremely dissatisfied.
This is far superior to what I had anticipated! It was delivered a few days after Christmas. And it's still spinning right now. Because I know people will want to touch it, I may need to get a cover soon. For my media room, this is ideal. It's the ideal present for any sports fan. It appeals to me.
