Use only for hot beverages. Ever. br>After only a month of use in my office, the cork back has started to fall off. The condensation from cold drinks has caused them to rust. Because the brushed groves are sharp, attempting to wipe condensation away snags and leaves lint/paper towel behind. On the entire cork surface, a weak spray adhesive was used, which is just sticky enough to collect all dust/debris specks. In the end, the price paid was not justified.
The consequences of exposed glue were far worse than anticipated. br>I purchased two of them. I knew there was glue on the corkboard material because of the reviews. However, no one seemed to mind, so I figured it wasn't a big deal. I kept one pack and gave the other as a gift. When I first opened my package, I was surprised by the amount of glue inside, because I expected to be embarrassed if the gift I had just given contained this much! It creates the impression that it is low-cost. I shouldn't have a disclaimer when giving a gift because they aren't, and the metal work is actually quite nice; I shouldn't have a disclaimer when giving a gift because they aren't. Every coaster's entire corkboard underlay is sticky enough that I can pick up my coaster with just my index finger pressed against the corkboard and lifted up. I've left them to dry, and all I'm hoping for now is that the glue will harden once they're removed from the plastic. They haven't done so yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. br>I deducted two stars because of the glue, but I will say that they are a good size and the metal cutout is well worth the $25 I paid for them.
These coasters had piqued my interest, and I was eagerly anticipating their arrival. They appear to be great at first glance, but the exposed part of the longhorn has a lot of tacky residue on it, which I assume is from whatever adhesive they used to adhere the cork to the metal square. One coaster already appears to have rust or corrosion on it, and another coaster has turned dark due to the adhesive. It's not worth the trouble to return; we'll keep using and monitoring.
It's nearly impossible to keep a clean house. These coasters are extremely attractive. As long as they aren't used for drinks, that is. They begin to deteriorate and look awful as soon as they are wet. The stainless steel stains, and the cork backing blackens and peels away from the stainless steel as mold grows on it. Bottom- line: unless you're willing to spend a lot of time cleaning them - , baking soda scrubbing, and so on, I'd look for something else.
I'm only awarding them a second star because they appear to be very cool. Advantages: br>br>
- It appears to be an interesting design.
- - Low-cost. br>- Works well with hot and warm beverages. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product.
- The cork isn't thick enough.
- NOT FOR COLD DRINK WITH A LOT OF SWEATING IN THE CUP. br>br>When used with sweaty cups (large plastic tumblers, et al), the cork absorbs the moisture quickly and transfers it to the surface you're trying to protect (kind of defeats the purpose of using a coaster). Furthermore, the excessive moisture causes the glue to fail temporarily, causing the cork to separate from the metal. To secure the cork to the metal, they could certainly use better glue.
I like the design of these coasters, but when you put a glass, bottle, or other item on them and it starts to sweat, the coasters get a nasty rust stain. I suppose ruining a coaster is preferable to ruining your wood tables, but isn't the purpose of a coaster to support wet glasses or bottles?.
Although the design is appealing, the performance is lacking. A regular glass of water with ice cubes will produce enough condensation to soak through the thin layer of cork beneath this coaster, soaking the table. I could honestly put an end to this review right now- After all, what good is a coaster if it doesn't keep your table dry? br>br>Even from a cosmetic standpoint, the sleek metal design loses its slickness when a droplet of water falls on it, leaving streaks and marks. Certainly not well-considered. As a result, it's less vexing - but, on the other hand, scufflingly If you leave the cork layer wet on your coffee table for an extended period of time, it will become physically stained and moldy. br>br>In the end, this product caused water damage to my expensive coffee table, causing it to warp in a small spot. It's not the end of the world, but I'll never buy another "Sportula" product again (. Again, Jesus, a pun that is as bad as it is unclear in terms of comedic direction).
Coasters that are beautifully made. On the bar, it looks fantastic. It's light and easy to move. Although it has a slim profile, it is effective at keeping liquid inside the coaster. My purchase was a great success.
