Questions & Answers
Toddlers should be using the sticks. Small in size.
They appear to be exactly as depicted in the photo. With rounded corners, it's shaped like a square. My 6-year-old grandson enjoys playing with them on a daily basis.
a quarter-inch of flimsy plastic This is not the product you want because the blade, not the stick, will bend and give under even the lightest pressure. Extreme flex in the blade. I'm not sure how this product is endorsed by the NHL.

Before I begin my review, I'd like to state that I've been playing hockey for the past 20 years. I'm familiar with hockey sticks because I was part of the generation that saw the transition from wooden to one-piece composite sticks. What are these sticks for, exactly? br>br> br>br>They are for your child between the ages of 3 and 12 years old. As a "STARTER" set, there are eight pieces in total. That means they'll be able to play floor hockey in your basement and shoot on gravel outside. Because it's made of flexible ABS, it can withstand gravel without becoming brittle. The shafts are supposed to be flexible in the same way that any hockey stick should be flexible. If you've ever seen a hockey game or a player take a slap shot, you'll know what I'm talking about. To increase the power of a shot, the sticks bend almost like a question mark. The term "STARTER" is intended to help a child become accustomed to the stick's bend. What are these sticks not for? br>br> They aren't designed for competitive hockey. br>br> If your child intends to participate in a league. This product should be avoided at all costs. Much better equipment will be required for your child. br>br>I gave it four stars because I like the product, I'm still a kid at heart, and I like to take slap shots in my apartment, and if it can withstand my slapshot, it should be stable enough for your child. Because the description is so broad, I didn't give it a star. They make it sound as if these sticks can be used in any situation. You certainly can't! br>br>Only buy if you want your child to have fun in your house or on the street; do not buy if you want him to use this stick in a competitive league. br>br>Also, shipping was excellent; I received this product in 2 days.
I was hesitant to purchase this item because Amazon informs you that it will not be shipped in a box when you check out. I assumed that what was pictured in the listing was what would be delivered, complete with a shipping label. I also believed that this shipping method had a high risk of cracking and breaking the sticks. When I got the package and opened it, I was ecstatic because it wasn't just one box, but two! The item appears to be brand new and was packaged in a Franklin box, which was then placed inside an Amazon box! The hockey sticks were held together by a small white zip tie, but that was the extent of their packaging, if you can call it that. The product is NHL licensed and, as other reviews have stated, is great for kids to play with. This isn't a quick fix for top-tier hockey gear. What it IS good for is playing in the basement with my 7-year-old son! I ordered three extra NHL balls after hearing some complaints about the ball's durability. This orange ball, on the other hand, appears to be extremely tough, and I'm not sure how the hockey stick could possibly break it. If your kids enjoy hockey, this is a must-have item. If the sticks or ball break, I will immediately update this review!.
Look elsewhere if you want to do yourself a huge favor. I made the mistake of buying it too soon and now I'm kicking myself for it. The cellophane wrapper on both sticks is peeling off in your hands, exposing what appears to be a cheap hollow plastic stick within days (see photo), and my child is quite upset. The sticks appear to be cool at first, but after a few days of use, they'll both fall apart; a quick search turns up much better options, including two wooden sticks for the same price, which I'll most likely buy later tonight. Given the price point, I didn't have high expectations, and while they appear to be nice at first glance, they simply do not hold up. br>br>I'll try to contact Franklin, but my child misplaced the hockey ball that came with the sticks on the first day of use, so I can't even return the entire set. The hockey puck appeared to be of reasonable quality.
I'm surprised at how many people say these are only good for toddlers in the comments. Is it true that you're all raising a horde of giants? These will suffice for my 8-year-old son. Children under the age of six br>br>However, these are clearly designed and priced for recreational use rather than serious competition. br>br>My only gripe is with the ball. It seemed too difficult/heavy to me. Toes and ankles can easily become bruised. We switched to using a fake hockey puck that we have.
I bought these for my nephew's 9th birthday because we are a hockey family and I thought it was past time for him to get into the game. It is of excellent quality! The height was a little too high for him, but he's growing quickly, so he'll be able to wear them for the rest of the year and into next. The balls are also quite heavy. Because there isn't a lot of bounce, shooting is simple. For the price, the quality is excellent! He's been playing in the driveway for a few weeks and is completely enamored with this set. For a good time on the streets, this is a must-have!.
These were purchased as a birthday present for my 5th grade son. The title said "Youth" Street hockey sticks, and since my son is a "youth" at 11 years old, I figured they'd be a great gift for his friend at a reasonable price. When the box arrived, it appeared short, and when I opened it, the sticks were definitely shorter than expected. We still gave them as gifts, but I would recommend that the seller clearly state the length of the sticks in the description for future buyers.
