Questions & Answers

How much can you inflate?

Make the best decision you can. Maybe it's close.

I'd like to know if this ball (wilson f1780 gst composite) is approved by the National Football League. Is it possible for someone to vouch for that?

I believe that the majority of NFHS footballs are made of genuine leather rather than composite.

What sizes would be listed on the drop down if I wanted a tdj and a k2?

The K2 is a pee wee, while the TDJ is a junior. Pee wee, junior, youth, and official are the proper sizes in order (from smallest to largest).

Is this acceptable for concrete or streets?

It's a fantastic football, but I wouldn't use it on the street or on concrete; instead, I'd use a rubber football or even one made of a sponge-like material in those situations.

Selected User Reviews For Wilson GST Composite Football

Playing catch and thinking with this ball is a lot of fun
5/5

This ball was purchased as a mental aid. I like to walk around and keep my hands busy while I'm solving mental issues (I'm a coder). I needed a small football to transfer between my hands (I used to be a football player), and this was the ideal ball. Furthermore, whenever my grown sons visit, we play catch as a way to talk and hang out. That's where this ball comes in handy. It is easy to throw and catch because of its small size. Also, getting a good spiral is simple. This ball appears to be designed for peeing. I'm sure it'll be perfect for the little ones. However, this is an excellent ball for my purposes. This book comes highly recommended.

This is a perfect fit for my K-
5/5

It has a nice feel to it, is durable, and is a good size. Footballer with two flags. The ball he uses in games is a little softer, but this one appears to be a little more durable for everyday neighborhood play. I don't mind if it gets scuffed up on the road or soaked in a puddle. It has a much more realistic feel than a foam or rubber ball, and it has withstood the test of time with my 8 and 9-year-olds. br>br>It's the perfect size for small hands. The laces and textures have a pleasant feel to them and are easy to locate by touch. This ball is enjoyed by even the preschool siblings on the field.

It's possible I was just one of the unlucky ones: This product did not meet my quality expectations, so I returned it
3/5

Much of the decal detail on the ball had already worn away, and the composite leather was bulging out, significantly away from the laces' ends. I was afraid that, because of the second defect listed, I wouldn't be able to get much enjoyment out of this product before it popped or, at the very least, started to leak. I hope this isn't an indication of Wilson's China plant's poor quality control standards (yet another made in China product), because I hold Wilson in high regard when it comes to sporting goods. br>br>I bought this to replace my old Wilson F1795, which has been through a lot in the last ten years and is only now showing signs of wear and tear; The cotton/polyester fiber middle layer of the composite leather has become exposed in some areas due to excessive wear. Unfortunately, it did not work out for me this time; however, despite all of this negativity, which could very well be a fluke, there are some positive aspects to this ball. By far, the most grippable (I know, it's not a word, but you get what I mean) composite leather is found on this ball. This composite leather should make it extremely difficult to drop even without gloves. Also attractive are the composite leather laces. br>br>If it weren't for the two flaws I mentioned at the start of this review, this ball would easily have received a 5-star rating, which is why I'm still looking for a replacement ball. I just hope that the issues I had with the ball aren't carried over to the entire model, and that you'll have to pay the extra money for a Wilson F1003 or F1004 to get a high-quality, made-in-the-USA product. br>br>FINAL REMARKS: br>br> Not that it matters to me, but be aware that this ball lacks the necessary certifications to be used in many football leagues. br>br>UPDATE (2/12/14): br>The second one, which I ordered as a replacement, did not have the same issues as the first; At first glance, it appeared to be a perfectly adequate ball. Things went awry again when I discovered that the new ball would not hold air at the recommended pressure for more than 12 hours, and would be nearly flat after 24 hours; I sent that one back as well, and am seriously debating whether or not I should give this ball another chance. I'm sure the Wilson footballs made in China are generally of excellent quality, but I'm not sure if the third time will be the charm in this case.

It does the job it's supposed to do
4/5

That's all there is to it. It isn't the nice leather ball, but neither is it the leather ball price. This is a great choice for kids who let it get hit in the woods, rocks, pavements, and other places where it will die. Is this something I'd want to see in a game? No, probably not, but it's a great way to get close to game quality without paying the game ball price at home.

Disappointed to the point of exasperation! I had hoped to play with a fantastic out-of-the-box ball
3/5

This wasn't it by any means. The ball has no grip anywhere except the laces once it is out of the box. I'm sure it would be fine if you broke in the ball like a leather ball, which I would do, but the quality of these balls is terrible. The ends of the rope were pushed into place. I made an attempt to deflate and re-inflate my balloon. Pumping the ball has yielded nothing. If the ball costed $15, you'd have a lot of fun. This ball isn't worth $35, so $20 would suffice. Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied with the outcome.

Football is the greatest sport ever invented! We used these footballs for intramural flag football and they were incredible; the way they played, I thought they were $70 footballs
5/5

They were only recently discovered to be less than half that price! I now have two of them, and they're incredibly grippy, durable, and simple to throw a tight spiral with. I have small hands (9" from thumb to pinky) and can still chuck this bad boy 50 yards with a perfect spiral, which I haven't been able to do with other full-sized footballs in the past. It was also a lot of fun to catch. This is the one if you want to play catch with a football or play more serious games.

Football is the best value for money
5/5

This is a fantastic product for practicing and rotating in during games. Two things to be aware of: 1) Do not use for punting or kicking, and 2) do not let the ball get wet. We're kicking/punting with a different set of footballs so we don't make a mistake. sculpt the ones we'd like to toss; Because I live in Southern California, where it never rains, my worries about getting the ball wet are limited to puddles and sprinklers that already exist. For the money, this is an excellent product.

It doesn't compare to the feel of genuine leather
4/5

But, so far, the composite options are the best. I'm a big football fan who likes to wear leather. However, there is a cost, and it was beneficial for the teen to have extras. The structure is excellent. Tack/grip is pretty good. It outperformed another major brand composite we have at a comparable price.
