The company contacted us shortly after I posted my review and question. They were patient as we took photos and emailed our problems to them, and we received an email in less than a week informing us that a new backboard had been shipped to us. Not many companies are willing to go the extra mile to make customers happy, so we are grateful the process went smoothly. We now have a ten-year-old who is ecstatic! Great buy! br>br> We had a minor issue with the backboard being defective when it arrived, but the company was very accommodating! Some parts were so hazy that I realized they were incorrect after I completed them and had to start over. Perhaps it's my fault, but the instructions could be a lot clearer, with more detailed steps and descriptions. Furthermore, the opening for adding sand/water is extremely small, making the entire process of adding sand a real pain in the back (literally!). br>When you add up all of the negatives, you only have good things to say about me! )br>Moving the backboard system with the sand compartment was much easier than I had anticipated, and we were able to move it around easily until we found the best location for our needs. br>It's incredible how much you can adjust the height! It is VERY EASY to adjust the height to any desired level. It's simple enough for any adult to do with just one hand. I would not, however, advise children to do so. br>The ball bounces differently on the backboard than it does on glass, but I can't complain. Before I bought it, I knew it was made of polycarbonate. So keep that in mind. It was not a problem for me. br>Sturdiness is an important factor to consider. Only sand was used to fill the ground compartment. It was sufficient and worked flawlessly. br>Overall, it's a fantastic product that is well-made and appears to last a long time. The only way to find out is to wait. )br>I recommend the product if you want to put a basketball hoop in your driveway for your kids but don't want to spend a lot of money on a "professional" grade system.

Let me start by saying that unless you have a second adult and a few extra tools beyond what they recommend, this is not an easy item to put together. A socket adapter for your electric screwdriver, as well as a set of sockets, are two additional tools I recommend. Screwing in the parts will be much easier and faster as a result of this. This should take no more than two hours with two adults; I did it mostly by myself, with some help from my 10-year-old son. Over the course of four days, I worked for an hour each day. So it's really not that difficult to put together; not that I didn't make a few mistakes along the way, but with the right tools and assistance, it shouldn't be too difficult. Because the written instructions were inadequate, I relied on the BILT app to guide me. br>br>In terms of performance, it delivers exactly what you'd expect. When I first opened the box, I was a little disappointed with the backboard because I assumed it wouldn't work well once assembled, but I was wrong. For bank shots, it provides a fairly accurate bounce. The rim has a nice bounce to it as well, so if someone decides to slam on it, it should hold up. It's simple to raise and lower the basket. It's simple enough for my 10-year-old son to do. When the ball hits it, it shakes a little, but it doesn't seem to affect the performance. br>br>Like all portable systems, it shakes a little when the ball hits it, but it doesn't seem to affect the performance. Overall, it's a very stable and well-studied situation. br>br>I soaked the base in water and added ground anchors and a ratchet strap for added security. After reading enough reviews claiming that these systems can fall over even when the base is properly weighted, I decided to go with a full base and the added security of the strap. There's no way this thing is going to fall! br>br>I'm hoping this holds up over time, but I think you're getting a great system for the money!.

Before choosing the Lifetime XL, I did a lot of research on different portable hoops. In comparison to other products in the same price range, I liked the larger backboard size (54 inches). I got it for $220 from Amazon (not a third party), which I think is a good deal. In less than a week, Amazon had delivered the hoop to my home. br>br>I consider myself to be fairly handy when it comes to putting things together - It took me two tries to get this hoop. It took me 5 hours to put this together. I think the instructions were fine, much better than many other products where the instructions appear to be a literal translation from Chinese to English. We filled it with sand to prevent the water from freezing and cracking the plastic base during the winter. Once filled, the base is substantial but manageable for an adult to move over paved surfaces (moving in grass required two people). br>br>The height adjustability appeals to both my 15-year-old daughter and my 9-year-old son. They are both capable of easily adjusting the height on their own. When compared to a high school gym backboard, the backboard is a little flimsy, but given the low price ($220), I expected that. The rim of orange is thick and solid - When a ball hits the rim, it deflects off without moving the rim itself, which is a pleasant surprise. br>br>In conclusion, an excellent product that will encourage my children to put down their electronic devices and get some fresh air and exercise!:.
