Selected User Reviews For Microsoft Plus! SuperPack for Windows XP OLD VERSION
This appears to be the "old version," but no new version could be found. br>I bought it primarily for the media player visualizations and movie maker transitions, which were not as good as I had hoped after installing it. Games: br>br> There were three games included: HyperBowl, Labyrinth, and RussianSquare are all good games, but I'd rather not waste my time with them now that I have a PS3. br>br>Media player skins: It comes with a ton of cool skins, but one of them isn't working properly. br>br>Visualizations for media players: I've never seen anything so stupid as the three mediaplayer visualizations. Personal DJ: br>br> Automatically creates playlists based on artists, albums, and genres. I never use it because I prefer to use the media player to create custom playlists. Enhancement of Speakers: br>br> It "improves" the sound of your speakers, making them sound terrible. Simply use the equalizer, TrueBass, and WOWeffect that the medai player provides. br>br>Windows media player voice command: It's cute, but it doesn't work all that well. The music you're listening to causes the program to pause and occasionally go haywire. br>br>CD Label Maker: This is an excellent program for printing CD labels and album art for use on the disc and in the case. One of the few programs that is worth watching. Dancer: br>br>Boy: br>boy: br>boy: br A small person who dances around on your desktop, completely out of sync, and is a waste of hard drive space. MP3 Audio Converter: br>br> I'm sure it works fine, but you can get ten times better ones for free online. br>br>Photo Story 2: Basically the same as WindowsMovieMaker XP, but with a lot more flaws. br>br>50 Movie Maker Transitions and Effects: Another advantageous feature is this. However, I was expecting them to be better than the transitions that come with Movie Maker, but they're just as good. There are more than 12 in total, but they are spread out in four directions. Windows Media Player's Party Mode: br>br> This is a collection of really cool full-screen skins for Windows Media Player. This is yet another excellent show. Analog Recorder (br>br>Analog Recorder (br>Analog Recorder (br>Analog Recorder (b a program that allows you to record your old tapes and records using a microphone. It's supposed to improve the sound quality, but I've never tried it because I don't have any tapes or old records. br>br>Audio Converter: The MP3 converter is essentially the same thing. As I previously stated, you can get ones that are 10 times better for free online. br>br>Alarm Clock: The alarm is simple. Because my computer is not on 24/7, I prefer the one on my cellphone. br>br>Sleep Timer: "allows you to fall asleep to your favorite music by gradually lowering the volume over time to provide an enjoyable entry into a good night's sleep. " Sync br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br> Go: If you have a PocketPC, it will automatically sync your music. br>br>Themes and screensavers for Windows XP: This is the most exciting part, and it is what distinguishes Microsoft Plus from the competition. It's worth it all on its own. I don't care for the screensavers, but I do enjoy the various XP themes that come with it: Space, nature, the aquarium, and DaVinci are just a few of the things that come to mind when thinking of DaVinci The one about space is one of my favorites. All of the standard XP computer sounds are replaced with high-tech computer sounds XD. br>br>So, overall, this product stinks to me. But, because of the few positive features it has, I'm glad I bought it.
A word of caution, though: If you want to convert WMA files to MP3 files using the Audio Conversion section of the Microsoft Plus Digital Media Editor, you won't be able to do so right away if you have WMP10 installed (you'll get an error message about an "incompatible codec"). Microsoft is aware of the problem, and they have a patch available for download. It's a small, easy-to-install patch (but you'll have to look for it - hint: After you install it, everything works fine (enter the error message you receive into the MKB Search). Aside from that, it's a good program, though I agree with the other reviewers that this is mostly a collection of enhancements that should have come standard with Windows XP.
It was never quite right, but that could have been my fault as well.
This is for both Microsoft Plus and Microsoft Office 365! This is for both the games and the Media CD. br>br>I'm using the 64-bit edition of Windows XP. br>br>I inserted the first disc (Microsoft Plus! ) and none of the theme items or games that I wanted were installed. br>br>So what's up? I put in Disc 2 (The Media disc) and it installed fine. br>br>So what's up? br>br>On my computer, only one thing will install. What a waste if I had known I could have just gotten the Media edition CD.
I finally called Microsoft after attempting to install this program multiple times and receiving an error message each time. The tech I got was thorough, but he knew he wouldn't be able to fix the issue. His manager was consulted, and he informed us that there is a bug in this program that prevents it from being installed on some computers unless they already have Microsoft Plus! As a result, the solution they propose is to find a friend who already has it - My set will be downloaded onto their system, and a new disc will be burned for me to copy to my computer. I'm sure you can see why I'd like my money back. Please check in with me and let me know what you find out. Maureen Burbage, please accept my heartfelt gratitude.
I enjoy the screen savers and some of the other programs, but they take up far too much space on my hard drive and cause it to slow down. My hard drive is also quite large. It takes more than 250 people. 00 MB's. To make room for it, I had to remove it. What you get for the money isn't great.
