Pure Networks Network Magic 2.0

I purchased an outdated piece of software for $10 that has been out of date for at least 5 years. I am sending back the outdated software, since only the free version is made anymore, and you can download the free version. Despite being a huge waste of money, it still leads to some of the worst.

It was a bit of a hassle Having connected it once, I shut it down and it couldn't be connected again. Oh well, I'm returning it (thanks It turns out that I used Microsoft's "Wireless Network Setup Wizard" to set up my wireless network, and it's all working.

Do you have a printer that can be shared Are you interested in sharing files over the internet? Net2Go lets you do it. How often should you get updates regarding the security of your computer? I think it sounds great, but I don't think it will The Net2Go app worked for about a week until it broke, and both the tech support and the user community seem unresponsive. The product was a bit complicated, so unless you know what UPnP or port forwarding are or how to open a software firewall port (I suspect a lot of people buying this product aren't highly techy), it's best to pass this one by. If you manage to get it working, a new IP address can take up to two days to be assigned, so unless you have a static IP address, be prepared for some downtime when you get a new IP address. Net2Go was my goal when I purchased the software, so it is a real shame that it did not Before you buy, please make sure your router is listed in their "supported" list. There are a lot of newer routers as well as routers with bigger firewalls they can't support.

Devices that Windows XP would not even have seen would be listed here! A Gateway XP, Thinkpad XP laptop, Homebrew XP AMD machine, HP LaserJet with JetDirect card (connected to my router), and a MAXTOR 500GB NAS drive connected to my router are all part of my setup. Although I am fairly certain that Windows XP can view and do all of this, it has always been the most miserable experience following through XP's cryptic menus. It does not seem to be an issue to me Quite nice and easy to use When I installed it on three of my home computers, there were no hiccups. As advertised, it works predicting the new Windows Vista will include something like this, following the Microsoft tradition of letting others fix the omissions in your code, then incorporating their ideas into the next version. It's cool yeah - )

A printed manual and quick start guide were included in the boxed version I bought.

I finally got around to setting up my network last night. After installing the Network Magic software there was a wizard I went through to set up the router. As soon as I connected, I was online. As well as the printer connected to my desktop, I could see the printer on its own. Once the software was loaded on all computers, I checked my Internet connection, which was fine. I then took out the disk and loaded it on all other computers as well. My Dell laptop was out of the box, but I had the software installed, and I had turned on the internal WiFi. As always, it was simply a matter of pressing a button! Quite a lot of work went into that! It was clearly visible that the laptop I was using and the main desktop with the printer connected were connected together. A printer was also connected to the main desktop. I could see all three systems. People have complained about having trouble setting up their new router and software, and this has occurred several times. As far as I am aware, I have not had any problems with my installations of other network devices and software, as some others have. Together with the Network Magic software, I have a new router and one wireless card. I think this is why I was able to install my system without much difficulty. In terms of Network Magic, I think it has been a good experience. Having never set up a home network before, this is my very first attempt. Unless I discover that my Network Magic software is a free 30-day trial, which isn't included in the cost of my router, I haven't yet experienced any issues (My network has been up less than 24 hours). it is a good program, but I would like to remind you to be careful. When I read the fine print of the program, I was going to buy it from their Web site. As part of the price of the software you get one year of remote access (net2go) but they will AUTOMATICALLY charge your credit card for an additional year at the then going rate unless you cancel by the end of the one-year trial. The period covered by this report is three years. In my opinion, this is a poor way to do business and I am disappointed that this company is using it.
