Yes, I agree! As well as you, I have experienced similar frustrations. My response would have been better had I known how to do it. In the case of mail plus licenses, the problem was the same. I wish you the best of As a matter of fact, I have to say that you'll love it when they come
The current policy as published by Synology as of the time of this writing (30July2020) is It is possible to migrate purchased licenses, but not default license keys.
In my case I use mostly models DS-I and DS-P cameras from Hikvision This is 2CD2185FWD Is it feasible to use IS and DS together This is 2CD2142FWD A friend of mine has a Synology server as well. The team also uses some Amcrest cameras as well as the Qsee cameras included in the kit from Costco. My experience with the wireless ones from Amcrest was less positive, as they had a more complicated setup and the night vision quality was less good. Using a private network is not dependent on the internet.
Selected User Reviews For Synology IP Camera License Pack for 4 (CLP4)
Both the license and the Synology work just fine. If the license is provided to another customer, the license fee will be charged The Synology is running just fine at the moment. I have 18 cameras running at 1080P 5 FPS at less than 20% load at the moment. For anyone paying attention, I would like to remind you of Synology. Licensing is an extremely expensive process, and mailing licenses in the mail is absolutely stupid. Let's eliminate the printing and distribution costs, you'll pass on some savings, and I'll be able to add licenses to my account online! is that I have been adding cameras incrementally four at a time to ensure that the device can handle all of them. It was no problem handling the load with my 1815+, but there is no trial period for the license. Would it be possible for you to try it out for 10 days first since I need to buy my licenses? I can then add 10 or 20 cameras to the network and check that the device and infrastructure can handle the load, as well as have a few days to test the device and network before I need to buy the license. Until I pay for the license, the software will not allow me to set up the camera. It would be a great help if you could at least let me finish the install and disable the cameras until I can purchase a.
Because of this, I have become rather disappointed with Two of their NAS drives were owned and I wanted to record home surveillance cameras to When I purchased the drives, I did not realize that IU had to spend an extra $ 200 to get them activated and recorded to the NAS. I don't know if it is worth it if it works and is supported. I invested over a thousand dollars combining the nas drives and camera fee cars that I purchased on Amazon. The cameras have to be connected to the surveillance station client to run and to be able to be viewed offsite from the place They don't let you successfully log in to their surveillance station client software, as they never open it. Though it is a known problem for them, all of the camera activation fee cards continue to be sold regardless. There is no honesty here. Synology tech support responds via email and it takes a few days for them to do so. The response to my email included a request to provide a whole bunch of data files and screen shots. I provided those. When I sent them in, they responded a few days later suggesting the same things and asking for the same data files as if they hadn't read what I said. They informed me about 2 weeks after I requested help that they will no longer support surveillance station. That's it! I spent $60 on the NAS, $40 on the camera activation fee, and I didn't get anything out of it! Thanks for nothing Synology! When I was dealing with them, I decided to throw away my NAS. It is unlikely that I will purchase any synology products.
As long as it works as advertised, it could be a superb product. There is no guarantee that Synology can fully support all of the cameras it lists as Many of the features that Surveillance Station claims to offer are simply not available on the cameras. As a result, you must manage them both through the camera interface and Surveillance Station, but Surveillance Station is most likely to be more effective If you don't write down the configurations, you'll have an incomplete set Surveillance system that is a complete mess. I also discovered that the support provided for ZTM is lacking in attempt to troubleshoot. Even though I provided screenshots, documents were linked that showed exactly how to do what I wanted, but they didn't grasp that those advertised options didn't exist. They asked for full system logs to perform troubleshooting outside of the articles, claiming nothing was sensitive or personal (take a look for yourself and decide) and full remote access with an admin account, giving them untethered access to the system at any time. Such a company's policy and support service would automatically make me reconsider my business relationship. The bottom line is I thought Synology's products were quality, but I will never buy another one of their products.
To act as my surveillance server, I purchased a Synology DS218J. My discovery was a surprise after I received the NAS and read the instructions, but I found that it allows you to install two surveillance cameras in the Surveillance Station software for free. To add more cameras, you must purchase One, Four, or Eight packs of camera licenses. It is not cheap to buy one of these licenses. Each of them costs around $57 or less if you buy more than one A pack. With a total of six cameras I had to add four packs to my NAS to be able to have decent coverage on my business. Though, I will say that they are worth the effort. Although the server only has a Celeron CPU, the DS218J is able to record 6 cameras at a time without a hitch.
An electronic key would have been a much better alternative. The manufacturer should have provided one instead of the small cardboard card.
When I opened the file, it took me nearly two hours to figure out what the license key was. Whenever I tried to download it, it said You can use it right away. You cannot return anything once it has been opened. The product is not something I recommend buying.
It took only a few seconds to enter the code into my Synology Surveillance Center and I was able to sign in to four additional cameras immediately. If they simply provided a link for the download instead of sending out the code via snail mail, this would have been a five-star rating.
For the alphanumeric license key that you ultimately enter into your Surveillance Station, you must wait for a card to arrive in the postal system. Wouldn't it be easier just to give it to you instantly, electronically, without fuss? I'm not sure. Do they really think we're living in the 20th century? I need to speak with my counselor if it is still the 20th.
