Scrapbook Factory Deluxe 2.0

I had a lot of fun with this software. Although, as other reviewers have noted, the clip art is somewhat cartoonish, it makes for very nice scrapbook pages. I created a few pages but have yet to print them. br>I'm a little disappointed that it advertises that you can make a photo disk that can be played on any DVD player, because it won't play on mine! I spent hours creating a beautiful scrapbook of my daughter's birth, including music and everything, and then burned the disk, but it wouldn't play on my DVD player. So I went out today and bought a new DVD player that claimed to be able to play this type of disk, but it still wouldn't work. It's difficult to simply burn a disk if you don't have Burning Nero software installed on your computer. It kept telling me that my burner was "unsupported. " You must first create a video and then burn it yourself. Something is obviously wrong because I am still unable to view this on my television.

While I agree with some of the complaints (cutesy art, inability to install the second CD, proprietary artwork, inserting new pages, inability to copy and paste from another program, and only being able to open one page at a time), THIS PROGRAM IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! br>br>The scrapbook pages I make are mostly MY photographs combined with SFD 2's other nonphoto features. 0 (picture mats, text boxes, custom shapes, borders, lines, and other squares/rectangles). Using "clipart" in my pages is something I rarely consider. br>br>Here are a few of the program's highlights: 1. br>br> You have the ability to make changes to your design! The lack of an undo button is one of the most frustrating aspects of traditional scrapbooking. When working with real objects, you must be extremely careful not to smudge your layout. 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br The items in a group are automatically aligned. What a savior of time! You can even set an equal horizontal or vertical spacing between items. 3. br>br>4. br>br>5. br>br>6. Customize the shape of your photo by selecting from over 20 different options, including circle, oval, rounded corners, heart, arrow, and more. You can also flip and rotate your photo. 4. br>br> Two tools are available to add a border to your photo: The first is similar to MS Word's insert arrow options, which adds a line border (any color, varying thickness, varying styles), and the second is to create the border from Nova's clipart or ANY other graphic or photo. 5. br>br> Make changes to the image. For the price of $29, it's incredibly powerful. a 95-minute show! Color, focus, and tone are all things that can be tweaked. clone tool, red eye redux, dust/scratch tool; fix flaws tools for painting and special effects tools (br>br>6. blur, emboss, grainy paper, pixelate, antique, tile, puzzle, total of 40 effects)br>br> Watermark the photo by lightening or darkening it. 7. br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br> Dual- Effects applied to one layer of a layered page (foreground and background) have no effect on the other. 8. br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br> A spellchecker similar to MS Word, with a lot of power! 9. br>br> Create a graphic file from your entire project. br>br>10. Put your finished project on a CD and give it to your family and friends to enjoy. 11. br>br> Make a CD label for your music. 12. br>br> With a wide format printer like the Canon i9000 and Epsons' 12 x 12 matte photo paper, it prints OUTSTANDING 12 x 12 pages, which are absolutely stunning! It's extremely simple to use and enjoyable! br>br>Here are a few things about this program that aren't so cool: 1. br>br> It is not possible to copy and paste from another application. To use the insert graphic from file option, you must first save the graphic/photo to your hard drive. I'm putting together a scrapbook for my 22-year-old daughter. I've had a 20-year Air Force career, and I enjoy capturing photos of places I've visited over the years from the Internet (e. g. , e. g. , e. g. , e. g , who reenlisted on the USS Arizona Memorial and requested one of their photos for my background)br>br>2. I added the graphics/photos from disc 2 to subfolders created under the default graphic file location, but there appears to be an SFD-related issue. The number of subfolders has been restricted. When you insert a graphic from the SFD library (default graphic file location), SFD does not see the extra folders once you exceed that limit (roughly 20). 3. br>br>4. br>br>5. br>br>6. Background transparency is not supported by SFD. A torn page appears in one of their graphics on the second disc, but there is white space to the right of the tear. So you can't send the torn page to the front while using a different colored background than white, or you'll end up with the torn page, white space, and colored background. Unless you use a white background, it doesn't look like a torn piece is overlaid on another piece. 4. br>br> The graphics don't have a search feature!.

Prosbr>With a variety of options, it's simple to lay out a scrapbook page. br>Consbr>Template selection is limited and "cutesy. " br>The Bottom Linebr>This program is simple to use and assisted me in quickly creating a custom scrapbook page. One caveat: Once you've chosen a size template, make sure to check the results with "print preview" before proceeding; I had trouble printing the first page I made in 12 x 12 size on a 12 x 12 sheet of paper. However, I contacted tech support, and while the initial representative was unhelpful, I received a follow-up call from a different representative. Derek called to wake me up after downloading the driver for my Canon S9000 printer! We worked together to activate the print function, which resulted in a flawless page. It's wonderful to come across a software company that genuinely cares about the outcomes for its customers! It's a shame that the templates included with this program are so cutesy and schmaltzy, and that there isn't more background "paper. " But if you start with a blank template, you'll have a blank canvas to work with and can let your imagination run wild. It will allow you to place your photos and graphics wherever you want them, as well as assist you with title and journaling lettering. Yesbr>br>Recommendedbr>br> br>System of Operation: Windows.
