Questions & Answers

With this software, how big of a structure can you design? Is it possible to add more than one floor or a basement to my home? Do you want to do some landscaping?

Yes. You can work on several floors at the same time. Landscaping is limited. But it'll suffice for now.

It's a great "upgrade" for newer computers, and it's very simple to use
5/5

GREAT APPLICATION! My husband adores this software and has been using it for years to help us with our home improvement projects. He recently purchased a new computer, and his VERY old version of Home Architect was not compatible with it. He was ecstatic to discover this version for such a low cost!.

Excellent software
5/5

Our current home was designed using 3D Home Architect. We would bring printouts of our ideas from the night before to our meetings with the builder and architect. We quickly discovered that we had a more creative imagination than our builder. br>I don't believe you can complete the design using this software alone; It isn't as precise or adaptable as you might think. Working in the cabinet has its own set of constraints. br>However, DXF files can be exported and imported into higher-level applications. It's one of the highest-end CAD systems on the market, and it's incredibly simple to operate.

Upgrade from a good product was a disaster
3/5

I just installed 3D Home Architect Deluxe and would advise anyone else not to buy it; it's a waste of money, and I've decided to go back to 3D Home Architect version 3. To begin with, the new functionality offered by this product isn't particularly impressive. There are more plans and a few new visualization modes, but otherwise it's the same product; the biggest issue is that the 3D mode is INCREDIBLY SLOW. The product's programmers clearly failed linear algebra miserably, as painting the 3D screens on a Pentium III-based computer can take up to 15 seconds. Regardless of the options, a 500Mhz machine is required. It's a lot worse than the previous version. It's so bad that the 3D view (which was one of the features I liked in the previous product) is completely useless for editing. The stability of the product is the final reason to avoid it. It crashed on me at least 5 times in the 20 minutes that I used it. br>I bought this item because of Amazon's recommendations. However, after using it, I'm convinced that the recommendations were most likely made by marketing personnel rather than actual users. If this is your first time purchasing this product, go with version 3. If you're thinking about upgrading, hold off.

There are a lot of designs, but only one in the square
3/5

It's ft that we're after. I was disappointed to discover that there is only one plan that meets our needs in terms of square footage. Ft. Furthermore, there is only one log home plan that is practically the size of an outhouse! It was a huge let down. The program only allows you to edit in plan view, when doing so in 3D mode is far easier because you can see what you're working on and how it looks. br>If you want to build a small house- If you have the time, patience, and a fast computer (which is required when working with programs), this would be a good deal.

It's excellent at what it does, and it works well for those who desire what it has to offer
5/5

This version is far superior to the next two upgrades (5 and 6) in my opinion. 0 and 6. 0),mistakenly be put to use, as it is the most user-friendly and efficient. The following upgrades give the user quite a bit of control over some details, but it's almost too much. I actually have the 3, and I find that I use this one more often and for larger projects because it simply takes less time to complete a project. Simply manipulating all of the various specifications for item placement and sizing can take many hours to get an idea of what a project might look like. While the graphics aren't as advanced as in previous versions, Version 4 is still a great system for users who just want to get their project out there and start remodeling. Because the furniture options are almost lazily generic (sp), I rarely furnish my plans. However, because adding furniture can help with spacing, the furnishings options in this version are quite useful if you want to get an idea of a room's furnishing capacity. Although Versions 5 and 6 have fewer furniture shapes, they have better graphics rendering and texture import options. While it's easier to navigate the 3d views in this version, I think the 3d in 6 looks much better, so it's a trade-off of user-friendly work in all modes vs. higher quality and advanced control manipulation once again. This is the best version to start with if you are new to home architectural work, planning, remodeling, or anything else of the sort. It makes up for its lack of sophisticated rendering with clear, all-encompassing home design without the need for a master's degree in drafting. I would recommend version 6 if you are a more advanced user with experience with CAD or similar drafting software. Version 5 can be skipped in some cases. Version 6 gives the designer a lot more control, which is great for those who need minute details, but after nearly 15 years of designing homes with various softwares and a year and a half of drafting classes at UW, I'm still sticking with version 5. I'm going back to version 4 because I know I can get a project done quickly and enjoy it rather than having a headache. I like being able to take a finished project in version 4 and polish it in version 6, so get both and learn them if at all possible.

It's superior to the new one in my opinion
5/5

It was a lot more user-friendly, and it gave me better results. I was never able to master the new one because I couldn't stand it.

I've been using it since 2001 on a variety of machines and it's still going strong! In Windows 7, I'm still using it
5/5

It's a 32-bit machine that does a fantastic job.
