Selected User Reviews For Family Atlas Genealogy Mapping Software
What I have been searching for just appeared. Every genealogist should have this book in their library. It contains so much great information.
The idea of the software appeals to me. far, I have not figured out how the interface works. It has been frustrating to label points.
Despite my hopes, it didn't work out as easily as I expected.
I am so close to it, I wish there were a way to convert maps to PDFs with this program. Watching the tutorial is helpful but it doesn't help much otherwise. It will continue to be useful to me, but it can be improved in many ways.
It was disappointing. Using it is extremely difficult. This tool is useful for families that have moved a lot across the country. When your people fled from Germany to Philadelphia and settled in Pennsylvania, this is a waste of time.
* I have high expectations for location based database software because I am both a Geographer and an accomplished mapmaker. Using Family Atlas was a breeze. I was able to pull in my descendants' GED files with no problem. My symbology was even customizable since I could add photos and hyperlinked content to each location. By color coding each generation or branch of my family, I was able to easily identify them. was able to print maps of the finished product and select a particular family group or geographical area to print on the map (country, state, or city). The price is very reasonable and the product is excellent.
An accurate pull of information from a genealogy program is extremely easy with Family Atlas. Place names can be verified with it, and obsolete place names are identified along with the current name. As many of my ancestors lived in towns located in countries that have changed since my ancestors lived in Europe, I found this feature to be particularly helpful. You can zoom in on a particular part of the world to process a map of it. The main product is a world map, but you can also produce a map of that area. You can export the map from your family history map program to a word process program, so you can use it to write.
