Selected User Reviews For The Learning Company - Oregon Trail 5th Edition

This isn't really going to be a review of the game's content because it works on my Windows 10 machine
5/5

The Oregon Trail is a well-known video game franchise. Most people, I believe, already know whether or not they want it. Instead, I'll talk about whether it'll work on newer operating systems. br>br>I bought this version of the game specifically to see if I could get it to work on my Windows 10 machine; I expected to have to use workarounds because it's an older game, but it installed almost flawlessly. It's not even necessary for me to use compatibility settings. Hunting and fishing are enjoyable, and saving a game does not cause the game to crash. The only issue I've had is with the jittery videos that make up the Montgomery children's story. As they play, a black "flash" occurs every few seconds. Those, on the other hand, can be easily overlooked.

This game is fantastic! A new (old) favorite in the family!! Loooove! I was apprehensive about buying this for my family because we use Windows 10
5/5

It works flawlessly! The video, sound, and gameplay are all in sync! In the years to come, our family anticipates a lot of game play! Thank you so much for assisting me in introducing my children to this old favorite:.

Even though it's buggy, it's still enjoyable
3/5

I bought this for my partner; she really wanted OT2, but since she runs Win7, I persuaded her to go with the most recent version. She tried to play it right away after receiving it, but she kept getting an "OT5". Error with "exe" It took me a while, but I finally found a solution that worked, so I'll include the link in this comment. It's been running smoothly for her so far, but she did get stuck on a guidebook at one point, and I had to look online for a fix for that as well, which I'll include at the end of this comment. She also mentioned that the fish were not moving, which made it difficult for her to catch them, so I'll have to look into that. If I do, I'll update my comment with the solution. Apart from the bugs, my partner seems to enjoy it, and it's amusing when I hear a gunshot and she says she's trying to catch food. 1) OT5. br>br> FIX FOR AN EXE ERROR - [Since I can't provide a direct link, simply google the patch for this error] sorry : (br>2) To finish the guidebook - Hold down the Alt and F4 keys at the same time.

Windows 10 is incompatible with this product
3/5

I've played a previous version of this game and enjoy it. This version is only compatible with a Windows 98 operating system. If you know how, you can use XP hardware or a virtual machine. The interface is not as intuitive as previous versions. You have medicines in your possession, but they don't appear to be of any use. Only the lower third of your screen can be used to kill an animal. In the upper 3/4s of the screen, even leading the target does not work. I've had a lot of fun with the games I've been playing. I've never seen a buffalo or a pronghorn before. Politically correct for the twenty-first century (mountain man was African-American - Despite the fact that she was a former slave, she was depicted 20 years before the Civil War. There are a lot more waypoints this time than there were previously. Hunting, gathering, and fishing become difficult when traveling between waypoints. To figure out all of the details, you'll need to read the instruction manual. Overall, if you have the necessary hardware and the time to read the manual before playing the game, it is not a bad game. On Windows 10, it does not work!.

This is a game I really enjoy
4/5

I adore this game; it was one of my favorites as a kid, and it provided hours of entertainment. I wish the creators would remake it and release a smartphone version. The first day I played the game, my computer froze several times, but I was able to get it back up and running, and everything is working fine now. The story board along the way, the diary reading, and the fishing part are the only things that have changed from the second edition to the fifth edition; otherwise, it's the same old Oregon trail.

Video cartoons that are entertaining but obtrusive while playing the game
4/5

I'm running Windows 7, and I had to change the screen resolution to get it to work. I'm not a fan of the video cartoon clips that tell the same story over and over again in between games; the old school 90s version was much better. a lot easier, you'll need to look for it. Rather than shopping at just one general store, go to a half-dozen to get a variety of items. Hunting is more difficult because you must always reset your rifle before aiming. The goals are much more modest. Still enjoyable, with a pleasant background music. Dialogue requires voices. This should be remade in the style of the 1990s by Learning Company. Carmen Sandiego for newer PCs, without the weird video clips that interrupt gameplay all the time.

A fun game to play
5/5

This is a fantastic game. Despite the fact that the game is heavily rigged to ensure your failure. Many people complained about the game not working in their reviews. For me, it was a complete success. It only took 2 minutes to set up. I was playing it 3 minutes later. I believe there is an automatic update feature that must be enabled in order for the game launcher to work. It's so old that I don't believe it's been updated since 1848. This launcher, however, is required by the game. It reminds me of "Steam. " If "Steam" fails to start, you will be unable to access your game; this is more akin to a school's game launcher program, which includes "Where's Carmen San Diego" and other educational games.

Having a good time and being independent It's fast-paced, entertaining, and educational all at the same time
5/5

This is, without a doubt, the best edition. It doesn't have any of the bugs that the previous game had. Though it is styled after the second edition, it includes a fun storytelling adventure for children, but if they have already heard the story, they can click and skip ahead to continue the journey. It also allows you to look up the names of the plants you're gathering so you know what they're called. I've enjoyed all of The Oregon Trail's editions, but this one is my favorite.
