Hello. Please accept my sincere apologies for the time it has taken me to respond. I was on my way somewhere. This item is no longer available from me. I knew I should have taken it down from Amazon, but it had been up for so long that I had forgotten about it. That's exactly what I'm going to do right now. I apologize for not removing it sooner. Good luck in your search for the information you require.

It's not bad, but there's room for improvement - Also, keep an eye on the costs that aren't readily apparent
3/5

I have three complaints, but other than that, I found this to be very user-friendly. br>br>First, what they don't tell you (at least not in a way that makes sense) - You'll have to pay an extra $0. 50 if you want to file electronically. 00 ($0. 00 each for your federal and state returns), with no rebate offers to offset the cost, this appeared to be a better deal than it was. So expect to pay more than the list price if you wait for the postal service to process your return. br>br>Second, the interface is clumsy when you're going through steps with a lot of options. For instance, it inquires about 22 different sources of income. You'll be taken to a screen that says you've completed "X of 22," with a summary of what you've done so far and a continue button after you answer the questions for each one (or even if you skip it). The problem is that that short summary of your steps after one or two items grows to be quite long by the time you get to item 20, and the continue button is always at the bottom of the list, even if you've skipped an item. As a result, you'll have to scroll down several pages to reach the "Continue" button, which will allow you to continue working. And you have to start doing it after the third or fourth item every time. There are 22 items total. That's a lot of page scrolling for something that was only shown to you a few seconds ago. Third, this software was able to import data from a previous year's tax file that I had prepared with TaxCut. Regrettably, not everything was properly imported - It got a lot of the basics right, but I had to go back and edit the entries for my dependents, and it didn't import any of my schedule A data (it even thought I took the standard deduction last year, which I clearly didn't). That was inconvenient because some calculations required me to look up last year's tax return and type in values, and comparisons between this year and last year were either incomplete or incorrect. EDIT: br>br> Let's move on to the fourth issue. The included "ItsDeductible" software is only valid for 2006 donations. What's the big deal about that? I'd rather use it RIGHT NOW to keep track of the items I'm donating to charities TODAY so I can figure out how much I owe on my 2006 tax return - However, this isn't feasible. They expect you to keep all of your receipts for a year and then enter them all when you purchase the software the following year. Why not allow me to do some data entry while I have the paperwork in front of me, so that all I have at the end of the year is a folder of receipts and documentation, as well as a grand total generated by the software? br>br>Even with those limitations, this is unquestionably easier than doing your taxes by hand, and it is also less expensive than hiring a tax preparer. It's also safer than storing your personal financial information on a third-party web server. Simply encrypt your files and move them away from your computer (on a CD stored somewhere safe from theft or fire in case you're audited). br>br>I've used both TaxCut and TurboTax in the past, and they're both excellent. I've also found annoyances in each, but nothing that appeared to generate a false tax return. I'm probably going to go back to TaxCut next year because the whole hidden fees and clumsy interface irritated me, but this version delivers exactly what it promised.

I'm a big fan of Turbo Tax, but the 2006 eFile has some issues
3/5

I've been using Turbo Tax for a long time. The interview process this year appears to be more straightforward than last year's, though I do occasionally find some of the instructions ambiguous and have to consult the Help files. I'm also relieved that the pricing is now more straightforward, as rebates have been a pain in the past. However, I believe they should provide free eFiling or at the very least state the fees ($14). Federal employees are paid $95. First and foremost, state. When you add up the costs, it may be more cost effective to have your taxes prepared rather than doing them yourself. br>br>However, the satisfaction I get from doing it myself, thoroughly understanding my taxes, and filing early to receive my refund is what I enjoy most about the product. So this is what has irritated me the most this year: I went to file only to discover that I am unable to submit my return electronically due to a simple Turbo Tax error involving a Box 14 item. br>br>Pay attention if you live in New Jersey. What Intuit has to say about it is as follows. br>br>"Hello,br>br>This e-mail is being sent to you. br>br> Because you requested to be notified when a solution to the following problem became available, you received an email message: br>br>Error: br>br>Error: br>br>Error: "Amount in Box 14: UI/HD/WD in New Jersey must not exceed $105. Error: 83"br>br>Error: 83"br>br>Error: 83"br>b "Amount in Box 14: The SDI in New Jersey must not exceed $124. 05"br>br>In early February, a fix for this problem is expected to be released. If you don't want to wait until then, you can send an email now. You can print and mail a traditional paper return in New Jersey if you prefer. br>br>Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience, and we appreciate your choosing TurboTax! The TurboTax Support Team"br>br>"br>br>"br>br>"br>br>"br>br>"br>br>"br>br>"br>br>"br>br>"br>br>"br>br>"br>br>"br>br>"br>br>"br>br Hey, I was planning on paying off my Christmas credit card bills, but instead I'll have to pay interest. Thank you, Intuit, for informing me that I can print a paper return and wait a few weeks in any case! It's a real pain. br>br>At the very least, they have a system in place to notify me when a fix is available, IF you can find it on their support site and sign up for the updates. br>br>If it weren't for this, I'd give it a four-star rating.

I adore and despise this software
5/5

on an annual basis Despite the fact that I have to retrain myself every year, I continue to use Turbo Tax shrink-wrapped. software that has been wrapped Call me old-fashioned, but I have a hard time filling out an online interactive form. For some, it's possible that they'll be able to help you retroactive There is an option to spread the amount over the period of accumulation in accumulated retirement accounts that my tax attorney's "professional software" did not have; luckily, he was willing to do the calculations by hand and came up within a few pennies of the TurboTax answer I received. I'm still doing my own tax return preparation. It helps to swear aloud.
