When I first bought this item, I gave it a five star rating. The buying process was simple, and the price was reasonable. I clicked on the Turbo Tax Deluxe 2019 and was unable to see the original picture as it shows both Federal and State taxes. After adding it to my shopping cart, I paid for it and went on my way. I ended up receiving only the Federal version, and when I attempted to run the program, it attempted to charge me $39. There are several different versions, and when you click on the item, it changes to the Federal only software, and so I received only that version. The State package costs less than the combined software for both packages, at $99 each. I felt ripped off because I was going to pay $69. 00 for a $40 program I could have bought on disc for $40. A word of caution to the buyer.

A federal download is available. You will receive two different versions of TurboTax Deluxe from Amazon You might expect an Amazon exclusive TurboTax Deluxe + State 2019 download ($40), and TurboTax Deluxe 2019 Tax Software [PC/Mac disc] ($30).

You might expect that any TurboTax Deluxe will include one state download. There is a statement in the product description that reads, ". For electronic payments, there is an additional fee The process of filing state tax Tax returns filed in New York state are not subject to file fees. There is a $30 Deluxe and a $40 Deluxe, but I thought the difference was the tax fee for the state. Because I live in New York, I thought the $30 software would be fine. I didn't notice the fine print at the top that says "Includes 5 free federal e-services" In addition to files, state preparation is needed. If you choose to pay an additional $39 for state preparation, you will be charged for it. You can download the state software by paying $95 to the state. There should be a clearer statement in the product description stating the additional cost - along with what the product is not. Taking it off Amazon would be a good move as it serves no purpose.

Over the years, I have used TurboTax to prepare my taxes and I have never had an issue. The year I began using TurboTax isn't critical, but I do remember why I began using it in the first place, and I haven't turned back since. An incident like this occurred in a mall next to my house on a Saturday. All my tax forms went to someone sitting behind a desk near the mall's entrance, who is said to be an expert on taxes. After Uncle Sam was done with me and I had allegedly owed him $258, the bills were returned. A bill of $56 was due to him. He only had a few minutes to spare.
This was not good news to me. I was surprised at how much money I had to give them, especially since I paid another $56 on top of the $258 I paid them. On one of the displays inside one of the stores, I saw the TurboTax software. My god, it was a pain in the a$$ to open this download. 45 minutes were necessary to complete the process. The system needs to be configured in order to work. To disable my virus protection, I had to turn it off. There was a warning that the seller site was There should be an action taken by the seller to fix that. To activate Turbo Tax, I had to paste the license code since I was unable to copy it. It took me a while to write down and type in the license code. It would have been better if I had bought a CD instead. * I won't install it again. It is a program that doesn't work after installation.
