Although they state they are made in China, they do not specify what type of bamboo is used in the bag. There is a bamboo industry in China, I believe. Bunbun loves these treats! I give them to him every couple of weeks!

Bamboo sticks, that's what they are. A great deal of bamboo grows in I can tell it's bamboo by looking at it it's shaved. I love them so much that my bunny eats them all up. Every once in a while, I might give him one. His routine is business as usual after having gone through a whole bag already. In case this had had a negative effect on him I would have seen it by now. Rabbits have sensitive stomachs, so I would have seen this by now. In small amounts, bamboo is high in fiber, so it's a good snack for bunnies since it stimulates their chewing habits.

It's hard to get my boys to eat certain things. Apart from their own bedding (of course), I find it hard to get them to chew on something. Keeping their teeth in good shape, and keeping them entertained, is very important to me as a rat owner. When I opened this package, I was happy to see that they immediately started playing with it after trying many other brands, wooden sticks, willow balls, etc that I tried in the past. It takes them a day to clear one bamboo stick out of the cage, leaving the mess behind. I ordered bamboo that didn't come vacuum sealed, but had a very strong odor as if it had been. I don't know if this smells like a bone, but I can imagine it is what motivates these guys. This just came in a plain, but durable zip package that I had to cut open, and had about 15 sticks (I didn't measure). It was convenient that this bag had a zip closure, so I did not have to store these elsewhere. There's only one complaint I have, and that is that I wish the sizes were larger so I didn't have to reorder so soon or I could get more value for money. There is a serious addiction to these for my bunny. As all bunnies are different, mine disliked those apple sticks that most bunnies adore.
