Questions & Answers

The edges of these guards can be bitten by chinchillas, but is it safe to chew them?

Chunchillas will chew on whatever they can get their mouths on. They have chewed on these, but they don't seem to eat them. They would be more effective if they were metal rather than plastic, so that even when the chins just manage to get through (which they always do*), there would be no risk

Could this ramp be used with the Prevue Hendyx ?

As far as I can tell, neither the ferret nation cage nor the Prevue cage seems to need a ramp since they look

Can you tell me how and if you use them to keep your rats from chewing the fleece liners' edges?

The reality is that it would not As I mounted the scatterguards, it was a challenge to secure the fleece liners in place (the scatter guards are difficult to put on and take off, and are awkward to use). Unless you want them over the scatter, put the fleece liners over the scatter if you don't secure them at the edges Make sure you stay on guard at all times. Taking off my scatterguards completely when I switched to fleece was the best choice for me. I find it difficult to clean the cage and move things around because they make it difficult. Putting a small bin full of fleece scraps and papers in the area where they chew the fleece liners would be helpful. It will make it easier for them to play, shred, and put nesting materials in their favorite hiding places.

Does this cage cover fit a ferret nation cage 182?

A version of this item was made to fit Ferret Nation's model 142 (630503) and Critter Nation's model 162 (650232).

It is weak, ineffective, and It was a huge disappointment that Midwest Homes decided to make a cage with their Critter Nation line that came with trays so shallow that they were essentially useless for chinchillas
3/5

As an add-on to their terrible pans, it clips onto them. It is designed for each pan. It does not do much to keep bedding and litter in the pan since the clips do not secure well to the pans. If you have Chinchillas, do not buy this product and be cautious with their cage, as they do not know what it is like to raise Chins in these conditions. A Google search for Bass Equipment will yield you a lot of results. Midwest Homes does not make sturdy stainless steel pans that fit nicely into these cages, and they are much more expensive.

Keep an eye on what you're doing! In spite of bad reviews, I bought the product
3/5

I made mistake #1 in that. The four panels were as described, but only one panel was straight, and the other three were twisted. Mistake #2 was that I installed them anyway. It was relatively easy to install the panels but I was surprised by how many sharp edges they had. A large gap was also present on the bottom of all four panels, even the straight one, allowing bedding to escape. The fallout wasn't as bad as I had hoped. Mistake #3 was that. I did not just lose bedding all over the place, but my Syrian hamster got wedged between one of the panel guards of my Critter Nation cage and its bars. My goodness, it was awful! My search in the cage for her the following morning was unsuccessful, so I was rushed to attempt removing her. She was stuck tight like that, so it was hard to get her out. Although she lived, I am so traumatized that I have returned the scatter guards to Amazon, and I am packing up Critter Nation, which I have only had for a short time, and returning it to Amazon as well. That was a hard lesson to learn! If you have doubts about a product or if it is defective such as bent panels, don't keep it. The hamster almost died when she almost paid the price. I recommend that the product be taken off the market, and the cage by Critter Nation reworked so that modifications do not have to be made.

Garbage that is cheap as well as annoying
3/5

The scatter guards we have today are completely ineffective. There are much better options. As they are paper thin and flimsy, they easily bend during shipping, resulting in damage to the goods. When I installed the pieces, I was afraid of breaking them since the interlocks do not stay in place well. To sum it up, it helps keep the litter in the cage better, but by a relatively small amount. Under my guards, my rats would easily shove bedding under the bars so that they would overflow and fall on It ended up being more cost-effective to get a large cement mixing tub from Lowe's and trim the edges, rather than build a cage. There is a 1100% improvement in performance and speed of cleaning. It does nothing to keep out litter. If you are trying to keep litter out, forget In the long run, if you simply are trying to clamp down stray poops or cages until the next vacuuming or cleaning day, this may be more worth it for you to purchase, but I wouldn't at the price they're listed at.

Your Ferret Nation 141/142 will be able to be upgraded to a 181/182, which is a big deal
5/5

was planning to buy a Ferret Nation Double Level 142 cage that had been in use for 12 years and wanted to upgrade it to be used for If you don't know what the differences are, the older 14X model cages are screwed together and have a different type of shelf (a plastic insert that slides into the metal shelf with exposed metal on top). There is one significant difference between the new 18X and its predecessors. The newer 18X cages are built with a peg system, not a plastic insert, and they include trays for the shelf units rather than an insert. Apart from that, they are essentially During the time that the old cage sat in the garage unused, my old shelves warped in the heat of the garage, and I found the plastic tray shelves to be more durable. As a result, I ordered two plastic tray shelves to replace the old ones. As a short summary, these shelves work perfectly with your older cage as well as offering an upgrade to a newer, safer style for your ferrets! They were also extremely happy to find their new home after I decorated their cage! Also, cutting up a bathroom floor mat and using it as a shelf cover is a very simple and cheap way to make a shelf more comfortable.

This is a great product The fleece bedding inside my rats' cages became completely shredded within a few days, so I had to switch back to paper bedding
4/5

When it comes to scatter guards, they really make a huge difference in preventing them from flinging bedding everywhere. It's obvious that it's not perfect, but it's still much better than no drone It was easy to install, the only issue I have is the latches that keep it affixed to the floor. They are flimsy and don't fit very well, but I see it as not a major issue.

Hammocks are extremely important to our culture
5/5

I am a wildlife rehabilitation expert & this is a perfect hammock for me It has worked out great for baby raccoons so far. Besides washing it (with bleach), I also did some cleaning When dried, it looks just as good as when it came out of the package. It has plastic hooks, which are good for now, but would not be durable enough for animals that chew.

It's gotta be for the critical nations
5/5

Please visit https//www. usa. gov/ These come in 3-packs and I love the convenience of this Considering the chew-prone nature of my current rats, I can get a really good deal on this pack. In the past, the ramp covers were never used by rat groups of my home and they lasted forever due to their high quality. Ramp covers can't withstand the little rodent teeth of motivated chewers, even with the best covers. I have never had any problems with these ramp covers getting dirty even though they are so durable. As soon as they are out of the laundry machine and dryer, they look brand new. Velcro is sewn into the top of the ramp covers in a way that prevents it from coming loose so as long as you own the covers, it remains in great condition. There are ramps for the ferret or critter nation that fit these. Those dimensions are important to know if you plan on using them for another cage ramp.
