It was originally purchased because my cat likes to shove his face into his food until he gets to the bottom, resulting in the rest of the wet food spilling out over the edges. I had to clean it up every day as he went to bed. Despite being washed it still won't let her pick it up. I love the dishes and the product is very well made, however my Yorkie cannot shake her way into them. Her food dish spilled a lot because she kept turning it over. I purchased this matt to stop this from happening so she could not turn her food dish over constantly. She didn't like the smell of it and refused to eat what I gave her. As long as your dog does not have the habit of turning their dish over, I highly recommend it. I wish I had one for my Yorkie, but it isn't the right size for her.

Despite its size, it is very tough to move. It sticks to the floor like glue and doesn't move! It is amazing how active my 1 year old pup is and how much he runs around Using the tray we used to own, the tray would continually move on the floor, and I had to constantly put it back where it came from. In addition, there was constant overflow of water because the bowls were moving on the tray. It is so convenient to have this item on hand. Besides the color, the only thing I don't like is the design. Those are the pink ones and they are so bright! This is the same as Nike's Crimson, a bright pink, orange, and red color. The color on the photo seems a bit lighter, but not so bad that I want to return.

It was exactly what I needed. There might be a little issue with the size of the water bowl, but I tend to fill it more often to give my dog fresher water. The little spills are contained and the cleanup is A good fit for bowls and the surface is I would think the cup would be a bit small to comfortably handle anything greater than one cup at a time. However, I do feed my dog about half a cup every time he eats.
