Questions & Answers

Has anyone tried it on a tortoise to see where it basks?

It works for any animal that requires a physical surface to rest on, with the exception of fish. It's the same one I use for bearded dragons, snakes, tortoises, geckos, and other reptiles because it only measures the surface temperature. It works great on plastic, wood, ceramic, glass, concrete, and other materials with temperatures ranging from 60 to 120 degrees F, and is far more accurate than those useless stick-on ones.

Is it true that this type of device, when measured from the outside, does not accurately register temperatures inside a tank because the glass interferes?

The device's instructions state unequivocally that it does not accurately measure through glass. I put it to the test. which is correct.

Is this meant to be used in the kitchen?

No, it's only for reptile enthusiasts because it only measures surface temperatures.

Is this a good way to take cat temperatures?

No, cats' temperatures should be taken rectally or in the ear. The temperature of a surface is measured with this device.

I would recommend it to anyone who owns a reptile
5/5

This is an excellent product that every reptile owner should have, and I use it on a regular basis. I really like the included strap! It's what I use to hang the thermometer from the shelving unit where our beardies' enclosures are kept. All in all, a great product. EDIT: br>br> I just wanted to say that this thermometer is now the only thing I use in my reptile enclosures. My spotted python became entangled in one of the stick-like structures. Her head and eye area were adhered to thermometers in her enclosure, which was quite frightening. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone who owns a snake.

Junk! This isn't going to work! It never had a precise ready, fluctuating between 0 and 1
3/5

5 degrees is the temperature. It was 5 o'clock as well. My two temperature gauges on the cage indicated a difference of 10 degrees.

For snake owners, accuracy is a must
5/5

In my snake's tank, this has been a lifesaver. I already have two thermometers in it, but I love that I can set it anywhere in the tank (for example, inside the warm and cool hides) and get an accurate ambient temperature, as well as use the spot function to get the surface temperature of her hot spot and temp gradients at any given point.

Accurate as well as cost-effective
5/5

I've used others before. This is by far the best; I read numerous reviews on a variety of digital thermometer brands, and this one kept coming up. It has a digital setting display and is very easy to use, requiring only a point and click function to operate. It's very accurate, in my opinion. I usually take the temperature from the inside of my bearded dragon's tank, but you can still get an accurate reading by pointing it to the outside of the glass. br>br>As a low-cost option, I'd suggest this brand. Option with a low price and good quality.

Thank you very much! I adore the product because it allows me to point and scan to get the temperature of my son's leopard gecko's cool and warm hides, as well as anything else in the house
5/5

We use an exo terra combo thermometer/humidity monitor to keep track of the cool and warm temperatures, and they're great. I discovered the hot rock on one side had a temperature of 106 degrees Fahrenheit, so it had to be removed before she rode it. We've now upgraded to deluxe hot rock with temperature control. We already have a primary zoo med mini heater under the hide for her to snuggle up with, as we don't want anything to get burned. I got it for this reason. Thank you for preventing the little critter from getting burned.

I AM UNABLE TO TURN IT OFF
3/5

The only issue is that I can't seem to find a way to turn it off. This is a major issue. I and my husband both read the only instructions that came with it from top to bottom several times, and there is no mention of how to turn it off anywhere. I left it on in the hopes that it would turn off on its own, but it has been on for a WEEK. The battery will soon run out, rendering the device useless! I also tried looking up how to do it on the internet, but had no luck.

It's everything a reptile requires! With a single click of a button, this device can measure the temperature anywhere
5/5

It's a tiny creature, measuring only an inch and a half long. Surface temperature, air, substrate, water, or the reptile itself are all taken into consideration. With just one click, you can get a highly accurate digital temperature reading. The device is equipped with a lithium battery and is ready to use. There is no need to set up anything complicated. Simply turn it on and drag it to the desired location. This is a must-have item for any reptile enthusiast. I'm glad I purchased it because it arrived quickly and in good condition. I'd buy it again, but I doubt it would be for a long time. I would strongly suggest it!.

It's ok
3/5

It does the job but the accuracy is 100% And there is no way to turn it off because if it points at any thing it automatically turns back on and uses the battery% The extra features are also unnecessary and inaccurate, but it does the job for me and is less expensive than the larger models.
