My hermits have access to both drinking and salt water. Both add minerals to the crabs' diets while also removing chlorine.
Heavy metals, chlorine, and ammonia are all removed by Seachem Prime, which is the only water treatment that can do so. If you don't need all of these removed, you might be able to use another conditioner. If you're looking for hermit crabs, the Seachem Prime is the way to go.

I replaced the tap water my hermit crabs were drinking with water treated with Zoo Med Hermit Crab Drinking Water Conditioner in secret. I asked my hermit crabs what they thought after the blind taste test, but they didn't respond. But, from what I've seen, they seem to enjoy it. In my opinion, for the price, it appears to be sufficient to last a long time, so I will not complain. My kids, on the other hand, wanted these stinky crabs but refused to care for them. Hermit crabs can live for up to 30 years, which I had no idea before getting them for my kids. So I'm guessing I'll be buying a lot more of this stuff once my kids leave for college and leave me to deal with them. Sigh.
This water conditioner was blue, which surprised me because my previous products had all been clear. Unlike the other products, however, Zoo Med's conditioner comes in a squirt bottle, which is extremely convenient. Instead of measuring with a spoon (as with other products with a large opening), I can squirt a few drops at a time into the water of my hermit crab. This reduces the waste created by dumping too much product into the water. br>br>In addition to conditioned tap water, Zoo Med included a free sample of their step 2 salt water product, which hermit crabs require in addition to conditioned tap water. Although I already had salt water conditioner, they were kind enough to include a sample. Overall, I'm satisfied with the product's quality.
We bought it so we wouldn't have to buy bottled water for our hermit crab. They may be at risk from tap water. When the bottle of water is empty, my son can walk down the hall to the bathroom sink to refill it, add a few drops of this, and he's good to go. water that is safe to drink once more It's more convenient and less expensive than buying bottled water every time; our crab is small, but she still drinks a lot of water!.
It's a lot easier now, and I'll keep buying it.
The crab is still alive, so it's very easy to use.
So, while on Amazon looking for a salt water conditioner, I came across a drinking water conditioner and ordered it as well. It comes with clear instructions, and I'm relieved to know Mr. Crabs is drinking safe water.
It is not labeled for hermit crabs just because it says so.
