The oats and apples are bound together with molasses. Many of the treats I've used are much less sweet.

On the market, the best horse treats. They have an oatmeal molasses cookie aroma to them. These are a big hit with my horses (and dogs). I've been buying them for a long time. Mrs. Pastures buckets are kept in my barn in two plastic buckets. When they become empty, they are refilled. I appreciate that these snacks are made with whole grains rather than processed ingredients. They're also non-sticky, which makes them ideal for use in treat pouches. What am I supposed to say? These cookies are a huge hit with my mare. Lexington, Kentucky, is known as the "Horse Capital of the World. " I see a lot of race horses, as well as stallions and mares for breeding. These treats are a big hit with everyone.
They enjoy them, and my dog enjoys them as well.

I just wish it wasn't so expensive, but if your horse(s) like it, this is the cheapest option.
These smell great and last a long time in the bucket (I bought the bucket version first and then bought the refills). My houserabbits enjoy it a lot.
