Questions & Answers
One of my toothless baby goats chewed through one of them.
On the ones I bought, there was only one hole near the top of the nipple. It doesn't leak in the least.
I'm not sure, but I believe it would work with such a large nipple. It worked perfectly for my baby goats.
I've put mine away because I'm not using them right now, but I'm keeping the lamb/goat because I don't have any bottle babies right now, and I think it's the perfect size for their mouths.

As a result, I read all of the reviews and searched the internet extensively. I went to two local farmstead type stores (not TSC) and was still unsatisfied. I wasn't thrilled with what I read here, but for $6, how could I go wrong? I purchased two of them, one for each Alpine child. All of the negative reviews of the bottle in "as is" condition are correct: the bottle is terrible **until** the nipple is modified. Of course, if Dr. Browns made a goat bottle, that would be even better (I'm sure that made the new parents laugh). The nipple has been modified. br>br> a breeze The very top is cut in the shape of a cross. Four triangles can be seen when the top is squeezed. Cut one triangle out with a very sharp knife. Then I cut three more 1/8" slices around the base of the nipple with a nice sharp razor blade, allowing air to enter when the goat pulls the nipple. I passed the dad mod test by allowing my wife, who had previously told me that the bottles were terrible, to do another feeding without knowing what I was doing, and the goats were happy. As they drank, I could hear the air rushing in. Mom seemed to be content. genuine delight of children dad wins. I believe these are excellent bottles that are both easy to clean and hold for young children. br>A word of warning, however. If you flip the bottle over, you'll get a different result. The milk will drip from the nipple's end. However, if you do it correctly and allow the goat to jump towards the nipple while holding it sideways to prevent spilling, you can get them to latch without spilling. It only takes a little common sense and problem-solving to go a long way.
When babies suck to get milk, the rubber on this nipple becomes so sticky that it collapses on itself, preventing milk from being released. I even tried lubricating it with a little olive oil, but the problem persisted. Who would sell a product that has so many flaws? Heartless to the core! There is no way to feed you, little newborn baby goat. baah. baaah . Exceptional quality!.
These bottles were great for my orphaned goat kids, but even with a bright light behind it, it was difficult to see through them to get the right amount. Because the plastic is difficult to see through, I had to use a measuring cup to ensure I got the right amount and fill each one separately. It took far longer than it should have. br>The markings were clear and accurate, and they did not fade or wash off during my use of them. I found them a little difficult to hold because they were so large around, but that's not the fault of the bottle; the nipples held up well even when the kids chewed on them, and only one of them collapsed. They have a small vent, which I believe contributed to their success. If I didn't have to keep track of my intake, I'd buy these again because they appeared to be well-made.
The bottle was bent and it arrived inverted. On black rubber nipples and grey lambar nipples, I've raised a lot of goat kids. This bottle's nipple is a disaster. The bottle was bent because it was inverted! That was my first indication that they wouldn't work out. They are far too flimsy and collapse after the first few sucks, making it difficult to drink from a collapsed straw. I bought two of them and they are both of the same quality.
This nipple was too small for the lamb to drink from. She'd start, stop, and shake her head back and forth. Because it was all I had, I went back to the baby bottle I had used previously. It's possible that she simply preferred the first option. I mix the formula in the bottle portion and pour it into an old baby bottle. She puts two quarts in the fridge for me, but she only drinks 7 ounces. for each feeding I'm hoping she likes the big nipple because she'll be taking a lot more formula per feeding soon. The nipple, on the other hand, had been squashed and rendered useless.
This isn't something I'd use on a smaller goat. Especially if they aren't consuming a large amount of liquid at once. Now that she's eight weeks old, it's perfect for our little doeling.
I tried the Lixit Nursing Bottle because of its large capacity when I wanted to transition her to 16 oz feedings. The lamb couldn't get milk to flow through the nipple, despite being a voracious nurser. And, as others have mentioned, the air hole leaks unless the bottle is held at a 30 degree angle with the air hole facing up - Which would have been fine if the lamb could have nursed. I'll experiment with cutting the flaps on the nipple more, but I don't recommend using these nipples. Manufacturing quality control is lacking due to a poor design.
Despite the numerous complaints, I purchased 12 of these bottles. The bottles arrived in individual plastic wrap, with the nipple turned inside out and the ring screwed on. Aside from the fact that feeding my goats is more time consuming, they also produce more milk. It takes a little longer to heat up the bottle. Extremely long lasting. I'm hand-washing the nipples and washing them in the top rack of my dishwasher. One of the twelve bottles I received had a leak from the nipple and vent hole. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase; they'll last a long time, and I was delighted to see the ounces marked on the side, which I hadn't expected to see because the pictures didn't show it. I planned on pre-measuring and labeling the bottles with a measuring cup. I'm glad none of that was required of me. Because I have a weak child, I continue to use the Pritchard nipple on her. These are in desperate need of sucking goats. With the exception of my weak one, all 12 bottle babies adjusted to the new nipple in the first day. By the way, how are you doing?.
