There's no way to fit it together. As mentioned, this is not a soft plastic, so I cannot cut it to fit as well as others have. Unless you have very large fish, you will not be able to fit through the squares. It fits a zebra loach that is four inches long just fine. This is not intended for tanks of any kind. The tank divisions are basically a row of plastic squares.

in order to be able to remove my fish tank lid while I have a fan going. It seemed as if many people had difficulty putting their hands I figured out how to do it after a lot of struggling. The connectors must be lined up in order for them to snap Place them one on top of the other and press! The bags do smell odd, so I let them air out after using them the next day. Then I will update anything I find out when I use it.
