Questions & Answers

Would you mind telling me how it tastes?

The plants in my garden seem to really enjoy it, even though I don't taste it myself.

On a regular basis, how do you clean this stuff? The handheld tube vacuum should not be used, according to some articles. ?

Tubing vacuum should work fine. I imagine whoever wrote that had not rinsed it throughly and a bunch of sediment had been kicked up when it was rinsed. There's really no such thing as clay chips which would interfere with a vacuum cleaner any more than gravel would.

How long will my plants survive on this substrate alone?

If you want to maximize plant growth, I recommend supplementing with Flourish, but a decent group of fish will still provide enough nutrients for good

7K / 15 is what it says in the description. A picture of the item pictured says it weighs 4 lbs, however it only weighs half of that amount. The following is the 5k / 7 test. The weight is seven pounds Can you tell me which is right for this ?

I received 15 containers in the one I received. The weight is 4 pounds. A mistake has been made by someone.

The color is beautiful
5/5

Flourite Dark gives the aquarium a natural look since it is dark in color. Dark Flourite appears to have the same color as Hershey's Milk Chocolate under bright aquarium light. There are irregular and rough pieces of substrate that seem to provide better grip for the plants. Cloudiness had no effect on me in any way. Here is a picture taken 30 minutes after I changed the old gravel substrate to Flourite Dark and placed all the plants, rocks, and driftwood back into place. The suggestion of one of the reviewers, C, led me to follow it. The first paragraph. Into a 5 gallon pail strainer bag, I poured half of the 7kg * * 2. A plastic outdoor chair with a slotted seat was placed on top of the paint strainer bag. 1. 2. 3. A fine layer of silt/mud/dust was able to flow out of the bag and through the chair's slots. In the bag, however, the Flourite remained. The fourth point. In about 10 minutes, the water will be clear once again. This is 5. What's left in the strainer bag is a mixture of coarse sand and pieces of about 1/4 in. in size. **See also 6. You may also For this particular project, the coarse sand particles needed to be removed. To ensure the Flourite was clean, I disposed of it in a Sifting Pan and dragged it in a 1/8" Mesh Screen. The coarse pieces of sand were effectively removed in this way. I did not have any cloudiness with the above process. Regardless of how much the substrate was disturbed (to place the rocks, driftwood, and plants), I found that the substrate no longer became cloudy.

Chemicals are not added to the plants and they thrive
5/5

It really helped my roots to grow when I used flour ore! I have a 40 gallon breeder tank and I wanted sand for a more natural look (but I also wanted black sand because white sand is so difficult to The result was that I searched high and low for the perfect combination so I would not have to use root tabs to grow my plants. The bottom of the tank, as soon as it arrived, I noticed it was WAY too rough for my bottom dwellers, so I covered it with Black Diamond Blasting Sand, and have been growing rooting plants ever since. It's fascinating to see how well the plants do without any type of plant food. This is a completely low-tech product. Neither fertilizer nor pesticides are used. It does not have a root tab. Pruning my plants every couple of weeks is enough to keep them from outgrowing my tanks. Certainly, this is a good substrate without using any additional substrates, but if you plan for fish living at the bottom, then use softer substrate to keep them happy.

I am pro- How to avoid getting bitten by the flu You're going to like Place paint strainer bags with Flourite in them and rinse
4/5

There's no need to wash it until it's clear. Just a few times will do, as all the dust will flow out quickly, leaving only the good bits behind. It took me maybe 10 minutes to complete the whole process, and I had NO cloudiness whatsoever. The last thing I wanted to do was worry so much As a result, I have mixed feelings about the product. It has a pretty high price tag, and it doesn't seem to be doing anything over the long run. The tank is designed to have plants in it). The tank looks fantastic, and the material looks like it will last for a long time.

In addition to the 15, I purchased a 16
5/5

The first thing I did was to rinse the 4-lb bag it came in using a fine metal strainer (as shown in the picture - you don't want one that has larger holes). I put it over a bucket and took about one minute. To keep it clean during the next few days, I usually lay the already rinsed Flourite out on a towel on the table in between rinses to dry. After that, I put it in a bucket while it dries so that it is ready to use in the future. If you will use it for a 15 gallon aquarium and/or just want to be safe, I suggest ordering more the reason is that during rinsing you will wash away about 11% of the substrate, dust, and other particles make up most of the weight in an aquarium. The weight per bag is 4lbs. While I was rinsing the item I was very happy with its purchase and had fun with.

It is not recommended for male Betta fish
5/5

Wash with a gargen hose and paint screen you can buy at local box stores and there will be very little cloudiness. The challenge of planting small rooted plants in this material is daunting, but it is possible. You might want to be careful if you put it in a tank with a female betta. The tail fins were shredded, so I wouldn't recommend it for fish with long tails whom this substrate is too hard.

The frustration goes beyond frustration
3/5

Prior to adding, the package specifies a "light" rinse. This is what I'm going to tell you. My frustration with this product is beyond words, and I will not buy it The tank is so cloudy that you cannot see an inch of the water inside. It is so frustrating for me to figure out what to do If I buy ADA again, I will do so. I do like the color, other than that. Compared to what I had expected, the texture is a bit rough.
