There is no problem cutting it because it's flexible. It is made of mesh made of plastic.

How easy is it to submerge? In what part of the tank are you at the bottom?

There is a tendency for it to sink. There's no need to worry about it floating or being suspended in mid-water.

It includes 2 mesh pieces, 5 zip ties, and 5 suction cups. If you have a small tank like I do, you could put one on either small side of your tank. My moss came the next day, so I have it in my new 5 gallon desktop aquarium. There is a good chance that moss will grow through and form nice walls of moss for shrimps to live in.
