This bag is not working really well. Bought one about 6 months ago, and just bought another one. I don't know what the problem is. This is a completely different experience. In the original bag, there was a rawhide chew that my dog would chew on for 45 minutes until he was exhausted. Unfortunately, this product is made out of some shapeless composite material, like particle board. There have been chews without brown crud in the past. My order has been placed for a replacement and I have contacted Virbac for more information. My phone contact with Virbac was extremely helpful, as Yvonne was extremely understanding of my situation It was easy for me to take the picture and send My question was forwarded to the quality department who will take a look at Following up with her, she indicated it was cosmetic since the chews had been basted. As a reminder, the Quality Department has sent the following message It is designed to apply a reasonable amount of basting to the chews during the manufacturing process. There is a difference in color due to the preparation level. Getting all remnants of flesh and viscera from the rawhide before scraping it very well would give the chews a "smoother" finish and have a relatively pale straw color appearance (like the photo on As you can see from the photos of the new chews, they have a "rougher" texture, indicating possible high levels of residual flesh or viscera. Tartar is kept in check with it. The product works equally well for my dog regardless of how I feel about When she goes to bed, she brushes her teeth with it. Unless she has it, she won't be able to sleep. After it is broken into half (because she is a tiny dog) and it is hidden on me for her to find, I throw it away. I like that game so much. My favorite place to find it is behind my neck, tucked in the cuff of my pjs, in my sleeve of my pjs and on top of my head. She is trying to find her way back to her face as she nuzzles my neck. I love the idea of a nuzzle never hurting anybody, and that is what I like about the product. While I think it costs too much, as long as we can play this game, she will get spoiled.
