He would beg and beg for them unlike ANY other treat he had ever had. I probably fed him these bones every once in a while for about 6 months. As a result of the diarrhea and constipation, he began to have pooping issues. In addition to getting thirsty after drinking them, he got thirstier than usual after having them. A couple of days later, he started having bloody stool, so we brought him to the vet to be checked and it came back negative. As a result, he began scooting A LOT (something he had never done prior to any of this) and his anal area started becoming raw and sore. The vet told us that the anal glands in his neck were only half full when we took him to the vet. Because it took me so long to recognize that the bones were the problem, I was upset with myself. It has been almost 2 weeks now and we still have no bones. He generally seems to feel better and looks like he is healing in his back. He scoots maybe 2 to 3 miles each day. For three days in a row, it was all day before the event. I want the blood work done and to make sure everything else is okay. I have the blood work from last year to compare with. I find it so sad that these bones are so IF YOU GET YOUR MOUTH ON THESE BONES, DO NOT EVEN TRY. A DANGEROUS situation. I didn't think it was worth it.
Upon doing some research, I discovered that it's the sweetener they use in these, dogs bodies can't process it. As a result, I decided to just give him different kinds of natural dog jerky. The latest shipment I received from Amazon, however, came a couple days ago. Both dogs threw up the remains of this bone this morning after one had diarrhea, and one had diarrhea last night. I gave them a bone last night after dinner as usual and NOWHERE did I get any takers! To see if any changes had been made, I examined the package closely. Yes, they are no longer made in Vietnam. Now they are made in Mexico. There will never be another purchase of this product. This is the kind of treat we used to give to our dog, who loved it.
