Questions & Answers

I have a stupid question: Will I set it off if I leave it near the front door and then walk out the front door?

Yes. When you are out of range, however, it will come to a halt. We simply say, "KILLER SHUT UP, WE'LL BE BACK SOON!" as loudly as we possibly can.

Steel/aluminum is the material of my front door, which I wish to protect. Is it possible to detect someone approaching my door from the outside using this method?

Yes. Metal, wood, and cinder blocks are all used by mine. This is something I couldn't live without. I also forwarded them to some of my acquaintances. My home is a ranch style home. At the REAR of my house, I have two. I placed one on one side of the house and the other on the opposite side. When a person approaches, it appears that the dog has moved from room to room. Also, use caution and avoid placing this near a window where it could be seen from the street.

Is there a way to "disarm" it from afar (e.g., via a smartphone app)? app for your phone)?

Wemo devices are now widely available and relatively inexpensive, and they connect to the internet via a home router. Amazon Electra or a smartphone app can control it in this way. It should now be relatively simple to connect one to a device such as the Rex Plus Barking Dog Alarm in order to activate the speaker. at a distance

Is it possible to hear a sample of the bark?

The sound is the barking of a vicious German Shepard. I'm afraid you won't be able to hear it because I'm missing the sound. So sorry!

It sounded like a recording and was repetitive
3/5

When I close my business, I'm thinking about getting a dog alarm so that crooks will think twice about committing a crime when they think a dog is on the job. I read the reviews before buying the Rex alarm and noticed that some people complained that the barking was not as realistic as the manufacturer claimed. Or that the barking was excessively fast, repetitive, and recorded. So, I took a chance and purchased the product in order to hear it and test it out for myself. When I first got it, I immediately put it to the test and agreed with everyone who said it sounded unrealistic and the barking was way too fast to convince anyone that what they were hearing wasn't a poor attempt to imitate a barking dog, and it was way too sensitive, muffled, and flat out disappointing. I sent it back to Amazon the next day. Don't buy! They accepted the return but deducted the return shipping fee. You will be dissatisfied and your money will be lost!.

MOST GOOD REVIEWS ARE FOR THE OLDER VERSION, AND THAT IS WHAT I SENT BACK
3/5

I bought one of these for my art studio in March 2015 after purchasing one a year ago and writing a positive review. I returned the new upgraded version because it was a huge disappointment. In numerous ways, it falls short of the new product. The majority of the positive reviews were written prior to the change. br>br>It's clear that the new recording isn't of a dog. Nobody could possibly be duped, in my opinion. The barking is extremely fast, and the recording is brief but repetitive. As a result, it's obvious that it's a recording. That is not the way a real dog barks. In addition, the new version lacks an attachment that allows it to be hung on the wall. Because of the layout of my studio, I can't put it on the floor where I need it without it breaking or entangling others. br>br>I've told a lot of people about this product. I'm glad I found out about the changes so I can no longer recommend it.

They are without a doubt the best available on the market
4/5

Two of these are in my possession. They are the best on the market, but they have one flaw: the speakers appear to bottom out. My friend and I initially assumed the audio recording had been clipped, but it turned out to be the speaker or electronics bottoming out (the volume level is too high, resulting in a strange vibration noise). As a result, you hear the dog bark once, move closer, it barks a few times, move closer still, and it goes crazy barking, but that crazy barking is a little louder, and you hear buzzing due to this engineering failure, indicating that the dog is a fake. That's all there is to it when it comes to "It sounds fake. " The "NO, it sounds REAL" argument that keeps popping up in these reviews is false. The buzz is reduced if you lay this thing on its side (try both sides; results vary) and place the speaker against something to restrict it (one thing I tried was wrapping tape around the speaker). The buzz goes away if you turn the volume way down, but it's too low to be useful as a dog, so you'd have to plug it into an amplifier or mic it, but it doesn't have any output holes, so that's my next idea. When I get a chance, I'm going to solder wires from the speaker to a Radioshack headphone jack to make an "Output" jack for it. Even with the buzz, the dog sound terrifies my pet dog, and he is big, and through a thick wall it sounds 90% real, but if I can get rid of the buzz this product will be br>br>Positioning this thing is also a pain, because my doors are made of steel, which blocks the sensor. I need to position it a few feet back and to the side of the door, then increase the sensitivity to the point where it covers such a large area that it reaches all the way around the door. It won't see people at the door if I place it right next to it, on the floor, against the wall. It will only see people to the side of the door if I put it right next to it, on the floor, against the wall. Play around with the range settings and location for a half hour, trying it out at various ranges and locations until you find what works best for your door. It's also inconvenient that you can't stop it from going off as you move around the house, but I don't mind because I only use it on vacation when no one else is home.

A colossal squander of funds
3/5

I had high expectations for this item and was in desperate need of something similar after my neighbor was recently robbed. Regrettably, the final product falls far short of expectations. I experimented with a variety of settings and range/volume levels in various locations throughout the house and garage. I experimented with various angles and heights. Glass, walls, and doors of any material could not be used to activate the alarm. Even in the same room, it wouldn't activate unless you were within 5 feet of the box, which wasn't always the case. Even when I was standing within two feet of it, it would not always trigger. Because previous reviewers had noted differences in sensitivity, I tried repositioning the box to see if it would work better from the front, back, top, or bottom, but nothing worked. It can get quite loud, to the point where you might be able to hear it through a door, and if it could be triggered that way, it could fool someone. When you're in the same room as the box, it doesn't sound realistic, so the product is completely useless to me.

For a few months, it worked out perfectly
3/5

I had to try a few times before I found one that worked properly. It worked well for about eight months before losing its ability to detect movement. It's now on the exact opposite side of the door, set to maximum sensitivity, and only works once in a while; when it did, it was fantastic, and many people assumed I'd gotten a dog. Most people would move on after hearing the first few barks, thinking there was a dog, so the repetitive barking would go unnoticed unless someone stood there listening for a while. I can't believe another company hasn't developed one considering we're in the tech generation; it's a great idea, and when it works, it's perfect; however, this unit was only designed to last a few months. It's a real shame.
