I'd say it was definitely time to put an end to his hunger before it was too late. It's important to get them started as soon as possible.
I'm sorry, but only one.
Too firm, and a four-month-old is too young to be doing bite work with a sleeve (at least one like this). Instead, I recommend using a small tug or towel tug, which is gentler on their teeth and easier to maintain a bite.
We have a six-year-old boxer/mastiff mix who is doing well so far.

This is a fantastic toy for children to play with. I am a home-based entrepreneur. Because I keep it on top of my dresser, my dog has learned to leave me alone until around 4 p. m. , when he stands next to it, looking up. He'll start climbing in my lap if I don't eventually get it down and play, so I know I need to quit my job and do my real job soon!.
My Malinois, who is 9 months old, destroyed it after only 2 weeks of use. I was extremely disappointed. What's worse, the manufacturer hasn't communicated about the problem in order to resolve it.
One of my German Shepards enjoys roughhousing, so I bought this item for him. During our games, he has ripped more than one of my long sleeve shirts. He seemed to instinctively know what to do the first time I introduced the bite sleeve. We're having a good time, and this appears to be his new reward toy, which I use with him. BUT, now that I've used it, the only issue I have is. My dog is unable to complete a complete bite on the sleeve. It appears to be quite thick for his jaw size, given that my 'baby' is only 85 pounds. He is a German Shepard who is on the smaller side. And, as far as I can tell, this item is primarily intended for the training of security/police dogs. My dog, on the other hand, just wants to 'play' bite, so he can't seem to get a good grip on the sleeve for our purposes. But, on the whole, it's a positive experience. I'm content because he's content.
So far, so good; my Negan, a 7-month-old Mal (at the time of review), was a natural with the sleeve. This sleeve is quite large, so a smaller puppy might struggle to get a full bite out of it; I can easily fit my arm into it, but the fit is snug. The sleeve is padded and layered to protect your arm while doing bite work. Overall, I'm 100% satisfied with my purchase and I know my dog will agree as well.
I had to exchange it for a more comfortable elbow-length glove. It looks like a welding glove, but it's perfect for mouthing puppies, big or small, and it's easy to put on in an emergency. You can even sleep with it under your pillow to prevent unintentional chewing. This is for dogs that are more aggressive and will bite anyone or anything.
Beginner's training sleeve of excellent quality. My 7-month-old Belgian malanois chews on it at least three times per week, and the material is still holding up. It does have a few pulls in the fabric here and there, but considering market high-quality competitors cost nearly $200 a pop, this sleeve is highly recommended for the money.
Because I had no idea how to use it, I was extremely skeptical. It is a good, well-made product, but it is intended for a puppy. To learn how to use it, as with any other product for IPO protection, you should seek professional assistance.
Great value for the money; I was looking for something to do more with my dog that would tire her out, and this has been fantastic. I'm thinking about doing formal bite training with her at some point, but for now, this is a fantastic "toy. " She only has access to it when I'm ready to play with her, so it's very durable. Increases the longevity of the product.
