Questions & Answers

Does the dog ingest these bones and is it OK to do so? Is it safe? There is a moderate chewer in my house. ?

The dog in our household is large, aggressive, and chews a lot. It is not possible for him to consume bone in bites or chunks rather, he consumes it as the bone wears down over time. If it disappears I would have to assume it has been ingested. away once they become small enough to pose a choking hazard. It usually takes him a couple of months to do this. According to the packaging, they are safe to eat. He's on his fourth bone and will have a tooth by the end of the year. There has never been a problem or illness in her life. It is unlike any other bone for him to last this long & He has to say they are far and away his favorite. They didn't get as splintered as other brands. The product I am reviewing is highly recommended.

Wear and tear is acceptable, but what is too much? The edges of mine are rough and scratchy after a day and are covered in shards. ?

Based on the way a dog chews, the duration of time it takes a Benebone to wear down varies. You can find instructions on our website regarding when to replace.

In recent productions of Benebones, has the amount of bacon been reduced? lighter in color, and it doesn't seem as strong in the bacon scent as it was before. ?

I'm P. Thanks for stopping by. Due to the presence of bacon in the product, Benebone product's color may differ. In addition, the amount of ingredient used is consistent. For a replacement, you can reach out to them on their website.

Based on what criteria did Benebone make his recommendation to weigh 70 lbs? It seems fine that the mouth of my 80 pound dog is smaller than most people of her size. ?

My name is Kang0r0o, and I appreciate you asking the It is important to note that a dog's weight is only an imperfect measurement of how strong it chews, as weight is inherently inaccurate. There are many customers who have had good experiences with dogs weighing more than 70 pounds. It is ultimately the responsibility of the owner to ensure We will do everything in our power to make sure that if you have a bad experience, please email us at info (at) benebone (dot) com and we will make sure that it doesn't happen again. The TEETH ARE BROKE The following is for your reading pleasure! You are warned! I STRONGLY encourage you to read! In a nutshell As a result of these bones, both of my dog's teeth were cracked
3/5

I have now incurred a $1300 vet bill. I was charged money for a vet bill of $200 and my two Samoyed dogs were It was important that I do my research and make the right decision for my dogs, so I purchased these bones because they have a very high rating, I thought I was doing my research well and making the right choice. There are no other kinds of bones I can give them I took them to the vet six months later, and as it turned out, the bones were too hard, and even when they chew on them, the damage is already done. Both dogs had a slab fracture in the molars, which needed to be My one dog is only 3 and now has no top molars because of these bones, so I feel like a terrible dog parent. I don't want anyone to suffer the same fate as my dog. Despite how much the dogs like them, the end result was pain and a very If you must use, please do so with caution. I recommend avoiding it completely.

I strongly advise you not to buy! I have a broken tooth
3/5

We are extremely dissatisfied and we are beyond angry! An attack had just occurred on my 16 month old, 82 pound Greater Swiss Mountain Dog / Rottweiler mix, and he had to have stitches and shows no signs of any infections. When we were walking, I decided to get him a new toy to cheer him up, which he never had before. I looked over the reviews on Amazon and this bone seemed to be a good choice. I checked out the amazon reviews, and they all seemed positive. After several hours of chewing the new bone, I heard a crunch. I looked at him to see that his tooth was broken. Since I can't allow him to run with his friends or have hard chews until I have his tooth fixed, he won't be able to be off the leash! BENEBONE, I appreciate you being so kind. All of my dog's favorite things to chew on, including elk antlers, Nylabones, and Kong imitation antlers, go down without a hassle. Their customer service is on the phone right now There is a money back guarantee also included in the product I find it outrageous that during a pandemic and with no work I have to come up with several thousand dollars in order to fix his tooth, but to have to pay for the bones that caused the problem is equally outrageous. The worse part is that now there are more reviews displaying, and the first one says not to buy, broken tooth, oh how I wish those reviews had been displayed when I initially searched!.

These are loved by dogs, but beware of their dangers
3/5

There are three dogs in my house who all love chewing on these Although some dogs have broken teeth chewing on these, my vet warned me. This is because they are so hard, they can cause teeth to break. The Labradoodle experienced a broken fang, so we had to take her to the canine dentist. The dentist discovered that she has several chipped teeth after examining her. The surgeon advised us to replace the toys with Kong items to save her fang, an upper canine. She will need a root canal to preserve it. I'm just warning, though, that neither my dogs nor I have ever liked Kong toys, no matter what size or shape they were.

You should not use it if you chew a lot! I can't give this a five star rating even though my dog loved chewing on it, because it is not safe for him to consume and very sharp if you brush up against it after chewing on it
3/5

The description did suggest to keep an eye on the dog to ensure they don't eat it, but it is nearly impossible to catch the piece they break off before it is I am concerned that my dog swallowed a huge chunk of food before we could remove it off her. She is a heavy chewer and quickly tore it up into pieces before we could get it away. While it could not cause any medical problems, I didn't want to give it to him because I felt uncomfortable with For owners of dogs who don't destroy their toys or who have the kind of dog who chews light, this may be an option. Our dog didn't like it because it didn't match his needs. Those that can be digested by him are now the only ones he receives just in case he sneaks a big bite, which he nearly.

This bone can choke your dog
3/5

Keep a close eye on him while playing with this. dog has had this for less than a week, and several chunks have broken off that are big enough to cause me anxiety about whether she will choke or have a blockage if she swallows This problem has never been experienced with other brands of nylon bones, even though she is a strong chewer. She whittles them down over time, but the shards are tiny little scraps that are small enough to be picked up either by the vacuum or pass safely through her system if swallowed.

My chewer won a big one for his aggressive nature! I have dealt with some chewers that have taken my breath away as a former vet tech, rescuer, and dog mommy
5/5

Obviously one of my dogs is the worst of the worst. My monster Labrador/Poodle mix can DESTROY just about anything I buy for him. It takes him just a few minutes to crack even the largest Nylabones and snaps the ultra kongs in half without blinking. The newest toys that are marketed as indestructible and come with money back guarantees fall to the ground in the mouth of this monster. In that light, let me say this. My dog loves this bone, and hasn't been able to get too much damage done to it, making it one of the best chew toys I've had the pleasure of working with.

I had high hopes but they fell short
3/5

We got off to a great start! An 8 month old puppy we rescued spent the first day soaking up all the details. I was able to supervise him when he was using it since it only took him one afternoon for him to break it. It was not long before I ripped the piece from his mouth and managed to stop him from swallowing In the morning, he began vomiting, and I awoke to find him doing so. . . . and yes, there were nylon bits all over. The only chew toys we use are bully sticks, as we stick with bully sticks in general, but reading all of the reviews made me hopeful. The puppy we have is not inclined to chew much other than the odd stuffed unicorn or bull stick, so I never knew he would be classified as an "aggressive chewer" since he doesn't chew much at all. However, we know it now,
So, it's 11/14/14. My customer service rep contacted me after I wrote my review and refunded me double the price of the product, suggesting that it may have been the excessively sharp "puppy teeth. " that created our problem. The product may be tried again down the road if you like. I am open to that idea. While I feel bad for rating it 1 star following the excellent customer service I received, as an Amazon shopper I know that many shoppers take into account both high and low reviews when deciding which products to purchase - I think it's important for others to know that breakage can happen. It's so much fun to play There is no doubt in my mind I would highly recommend this company and their products to anyone with adults, less-dependent children Chewing machines that are aggressive!.
