Aminavast dosage for cats and small dogs is 300 mg/60 ct. for cats (and dogs up to 20 lbs. for dogs). That is, take one or two capsules twice a day. The dosage for Aminavast shown here is 1000mg/cap for dogs. This item's 000mg (or 300mg for cats) refers to the combination of ingredients, which is a proprietary mix. I'm not sure why there isn't a photo of the ingredient list on the bottle label for this supplement, as there is for a gazillion other supplements sold on Amazon. I had to look up more information on the internet. All of this should be available for customers to review on Amazon. Aminavast for cats is not available on Amazon at the time of writing (9/17/16); I had to order something else because the food was so disappointing.

This has been in use by my nearly 16-year-old German Shepherd for over three years. His vet bloodwork revealed stage 3 kidney disease when I first noticed problems with him. With the help of this supplement, he has returned to Stage 1. I've also changed the way I cook for him to include a lower-protein diet with a lot of brown rice, sweet potatoes, and other low-carb vegetables; to the person who wrote to tell me to keep giving their kidney-affected dog a lot of protein, I urge you to do so. You're not a doctor or a veterinarian! The kidneys can only handle so much protein before they start to fail. My dog is doing fantastically well, and I am convinced that this supplement has played a significant role in his success.

This supplement was prescribed to my 13-year-old dog, who was to take one pill twice a day. My 16-year-old dog had a severe kidney failure episode recently, and she was nearly unresponsive and skin and bones, so she was admitted to the animal hospital for fluids for 36 hours to see if she would recover.
