This is a great fit! I have a dog whose size is usually between an XS and a S, and a deep chest but a very slender waist, so it's very difficult to find clothes that fit him. The vest has a full stretchy underbelly panel which is fully adjustable with velcro fasteners. With buckles underneath and velcro panels under it, it's easy for him to put it on, shape it to his body with velcro closures, then clip it on. My son chose the XS and it fits him snugly, so I can pick him up with the handle without him slipping out. Panels are thinner and do not take up a lot of space. It's very comfortable for him to wear - it's perfect for safety when we're kayaking. Even though my dog does not like swimming, and he goes on the boat with us we will not allow him to fall off, he may be able to wear this all day. You will be delighted to learn that it costs.

I was able to fit large size on my 65 lb German Shepherd, but she is barrel chested. I bring her to the beach often in order to keep her safe. She loves to swim, so I take her there often. Although she appears not to mind it, she doesn't seem to care much about it and is able to run freely without it rubbing her hair.

By the time we found him, it was getting dark, and I'm not sure we would have spotted him if he had fallen. Upon getting back to the house, I ordered this life jacket in a size x-large I cannot believe how small it is. He wasn't a fan of it on day 1, they said he wouldn't move while wearing it. Two days later, I got it and we tried it out. It took him a little while to get used to it, as he is a stubborn little man, but i put it on him daily and fed him treats while he wore it. Two hours ago I put him in his new vest while we were out on the boat. It was no problem, he loves it now, it means that A mere 20 minutes later, he was roughhousing with one of our larger dogs, and he jumped into the water perfectly straight for the first time since two years ago. Adding size small to my 12 pound Chihuahua mix and size large to a 50 pound Pit Bull mix both fit appropriately in these collars. Their perfect fit and comfort make them comfortable to wear. This bag's back handle is one of the features I like most. The 50-pound mix of my Pit Bull and Pit Bull slipped off my kayak and fell I grabbed her hand as she swam right back to me, and she easily pulled herself back into my kayak as she lunged up. I was surprised that I was able to do this (although I didn't think I could). "It feels great knowing that I can take her all over the lake without needing to wait at the boat ramp for fear that she will jump out and have to swim all the way back. ". My first order was an XL because reviews indicated this vest ran small, and I did NOT find this to be true. There was quite a bit of excess material in the XL. It was accurate to read the size chart. The vest was able to move well when worn while playing fetch today, despite the rain. So far we haven't tested its buoyancy in the water, but we did test its bounce in the air while he played fetch.

With this jacket, the handle is sewn to the straps for strength instead of being part of the front of the jacket. When in the water, my dog's front legs are not impeded by this design of life jacket. My 28 lb, tall, skinny puppy fits very well in the medium size, and I can easily lift her from all four legs dangling by the well balanced handle. My dog is a very good swimmer, so I don't know how well the jacket floats.
