What would prevent them from being there? Right here on Amazon, you can buy mealworms that are intended to be consumed by humans. The same is true for these as well. Do you really think a human cannot eat these because they're not flavored like Doritos? There is nothing better than eating mealworms.
On the package, it specifies that they're made in China, but does not mention where the crops an address in California which may indicate that they are packaged there. This does not state that the ingredients are suitable for human consumption, but it does list them all. In addition to feeding the blue birds, I've noticed that other birds enjoy them as well. It is likely that I will make another purchase. Florida is my home state and I bought these for our native and nesting birds, especially the bluebirds, who live here year round. The first time I used a bowl feeder, I put about 3/4 cup in there. After 6pm, there were only some partial and worm crumbs left (I know, gross!).
