Questions & Answers

Where's the firefly?

It's really fun to see so many references to Firefly. On the basis of those alone, you might consider buying this one

How can the unit be placed at a distance of 25 feet from humans? It's not necessary to use the chemical attractant, but does it still work?

There is a great deal of misinformation here. The manual never says to keep your pool/patio 25 feet away from human activity, it says to keep it 25 feet away This is so that the coverage area is maximized. place the unit in your backyard right next to your house, it would cover 25 feet in front, but if you were to put it 25 feet away, it would cover 50 feet in diameter (25 feet in front of your house and 25 feet back). While the chemical attractant is not required to kill mosquitoes, it may improve your chances of killing them (it allegedly contains chemicals that attract certain mosquitoes and biting flies), as not all mosquitoes are attracted to only UV light.

What is the power source? Is it electrical or does it run on batteries?

An electric battery is a battery

What effects does it have on ?

If you are dealing with hornets, wasps, yellow jackets, please remember that they are inactive in the early morning hours, as well as when it is cold. When the nest is taken down, they will not return to it. All you need to do is wait for a cool morning, and use either a long stick, broom handle, or some other device to knock it down. To avoid flying insects, you can always buy some insect bug spray if you are not able to schedule it at a good time. The spray will kill wasps, yellow jackets, etc. You should never harm a honey bee. If you get up close to the insect, then you can spray it. Bees are an important part of our food supply. When it comes to wasps, hornets, etc., I prefer simply knocking down the nest. If you can avoid using chemicals, and if you can avoid killing anything, it would be better. There are only one or two creatures I feel no pain in killing

I made a hero of a junebug by avoiding him at all costs! Buying is not a good idea! 5 minutes is how long this thing lasted! There was one junebug who took the team's downfall
3/5

The total sacrifice he made was for the betterment of all bugs. In the insect world, he is a hero among heroes. There was a sound that I believe was taps being gently played afterward by a group In all honesty, the only positive aspect of this product is that, despite the light being on and there being no zapper ability, the light attracted a million friends to mourn when junebugs was being buried.

This is an epic failure

If you are reading this review, I am assuming you are someone like myself, who is sick and tired of getting mauled by mosquitoes every time you go outside. If my assumption is correct, do not buy this product ! very excited about getting this bug zapper - it is kind of lame I know, but I really wanted it for my back yard. I was delighted to receive it on a Friday afternoon, which was perfect. The inner redneck in me wants to make an appearance. As my family splashes around in the pool, I light up the grill, drink some beer, and listen to the sizzle of bugs. Hey, even if I pull out all the stops, we'll eat outside. So I open the box and this item was dusty. First I think it's been It does not appear to have any bugs, so I guess maybe it was in a As a result, I set up a metal stand, put the mosquito attractor on the wire, and then plug it in. The sounds of the blood suckers as they die will be splendid from the patio, so grab a beer and prepare yourself. There is no humming of a bug zapper, no light, and certainly no sizzle when you plug it in. My feet hit the ground as I went to inspect the machine, and the blood beast started signaling their flying family that fresh meat had entered the backyard. As I was trying to get this machine to work, I swear I could hear the mosquitoes In order to receive a refund, I'll be returning this on Monday. Those of you who dislike mosquitoes can rest assured that I will visit the hardware store in order to try and.

It's time to destroy the mosquitoes! I have updated the information as of August 17, 2020
3/5

I advise you not to purchase this product. The rating has been lowered to one star from five. It took many years for my bulb to fail, and I decided to get a new one. There is no longer a blacklight in the product, which attracts bugs the same way. The bulb now has a more "clear" appearance and does not appear black. I don't think it matters too much. I am returning. I don't like it when a company has a really great product and then ruins it by changing a small detail. My previous review of this product had been up for some time now. I'm not sure how long this has been the case. In his formative review on June 23, 2015, he said Having a swamp and two ponds right next to our house in a heavily wooded area means we always have mosquitoes near us. We placed a propane powered mosquito vac in our yard this spring and had to clean it every day, as the basket would fill to a point where the suction would die and it would no longer Even though it collected at least a few hundred mosquitoes a day, due to all the bugs and fluff from cottonwood trees, it would lose suction. As a result, we chose to place a Flowtron (1/2 acre) bug zapper unit within 5 feet of the propane powered mosquito vac in the hope it would take some of the load off. In fact, I would have been pleased if the bug zapper had captured twice as many mosquitoes as the mosquito vacuum did, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. It has been reported that this zapper kills more mosquitoes than the propane unit by at least 1000 times. I think it's amazing! I've included a photo of the unit looking like it does the next day after being thoroughly hosed down. THERE ARE TENS OF THOUSANDS of these Most of the bugs we encountered in the park were mosquitoes, except for about a dozen that weren't the rest were bugs. It isn't natural for this type of performance to come solely from the bug zapper, I believe that it is due to the combination of the propane mosquito vac luring them in. The propane mosquito vac is next to This mosquito carnage comes at a price. Now the unit has to be emptied every day as well. A grid of fried mosquitoes blocks all light from beaming from the bulb because the grid becomes so solid! it off with a light spray of water, and let it dry on our central air condenser unit for about 30 minutes (gentle blast of hot I give you 5 stars for cause massive harm to the mosquito population (at least 1,000 mosquitoes a The fourth point is 4) It needed to be cleaned every day, so it was rated 8 stars. Four is not possible for me. Nine out of ten stars. That leaves us with 5! *BEAR IN MIND It will occasionally rain flaming (actually on fire) bug debris! Do not hang this unit over a deck or near anything that can burn, as it will rain flaming I think a warning sticker would be a good idea. THIS UNIT WILL SHAKE WITH FLAMMING BUGS. There is no reason to be surprised if the bug zapper simply catches on fire one This would be an awesome experience (and I would not MOSQUITOES GO TO THE GREEN! 4) We have ordered another Flowtron, the larger unit that will cover 1 1/2 acres to hopefully better handle the mosquito problem. In our yard, this is hung at the end of an extension cord which runs 50 feet. A six inch extension cord is needed since this only comes with a six inch cord. - A shepherd's hook was used for hanging them. You should never put this near anything you don't intend to burn to the ground or hang on anything that you don't intend to destroy. The July 1, 2015 update is as follows There was no difference in mosquito density after using the 1 and 1/2 acres of flowtron. Not only did it not kill any bugs, it did very little! It is similar to the bulb of a black light on the smaller unit of 1/2 an acre A lamp. This is a deep purple with not too much brightness. Bugs are drawn in like crazy when he's around. There are two bulbs on the 1 and 1/2 acre unit. One is blue and one is Turn on the lights in the entire back yard, including the neighbor's house! I've never seen anything like this! While I'm not sure if the color makes it easier to attract bugs, it discouraged them from approaching the mosquito vac. In the case of the 1 and 1/2 acre plot with the extremely bright bulb, I don't know what to do with it. It is the kind of product that I would never buy again, and recommend that people stay away If you're considering buying a 1/2 acre, it's a great choice.

I would not recommend using this method to kill mosquitoes
3/5

Trying something else may be a good idea. In trying to use this insect killer for three days in a row this past week, I observed only a very slight reduction in mosquitoes In the end, this zapper was only able to kill one person, and the others mostly just landed on everyone and bit Eventually, we had to switch to other control methods such as wearing poison, lighting special candles, and avoiding the outside. * * * I was eager to start killing but unfortunately only saw one mosquito go down. It's hard for me to comment on how easy it is to clean since I just stood there and let him do it. As a result, it no longer harms anyone as it is now merely a husk of a mosquito. This makes the zapper seem a bit excessive. The fan I've been using is much better than the DEET one, and I've had a lot better luck with it Repellants that are not based on oil or water A candle made from citronella. Despite its bright lights, this thing seems to do nothing other than shine.

Mosquitos are the only ones it doesn't kill
3/5

There were a lot of positive reviews about this zapper and I was excited to try it. However, I tried it both with and without the mosquito attractant, and they didn't seem to mind it. The other side of it is great redneck fun to watch it zap Not at all. Our mosquitoes in San Antonio are just not attracted to light, or the type of mosquitoes are different from those in other cities.
