It has been a year since the bulb was replaced, and I haven't had to do that.

There was nothing we could do but try! connected the device in the room closest to the back door and placed it up on the shelf - it worked as expected! A Pop sound rather than a zap sound can be heard. It has even been heard during daylight hours and our mosquito problem has decreased at least 80% in just a week (those critters live for 45 days after all) so we are hoping things will improve even more, but even if they don't we are thankful for the change!.
It made a difference in removing mosquitoes, which was my main goal. There were, however, some issues with the light. It worked perfectly the first time that I ordered it, and we experienced a mosquito free environment (even without adding an attractant, although it will be more effective that way) until the light went out about two weeks later. After I removed the light and placed it back inside it stayed on for an hour before randomly flickering on and off. After three weeks, I ordered a replacement, and everything worked perfectly until the new one started exhibiting the same behavior coupled with strange circuit sputtering noises. Also returned. Sad to say, but that was too expensive for me.
I am using it in about a 300-square-foot.
It has been six hours since I attempted to clean the bug zapper, and when I opened it on the first day, it had nothing in it. Almost as soon as the sun went down, snap crackle and pop were heard. Having exhausted other remedies, I tried the $5 disposable fly trap, a $1 bar of Irish spring soap in a mesh bag (which was recommended on Facebook). This $20 bug zapper is the next step. Before going to the bug zapper, I should have used the bug zapper.
In addition to small moths, a few flies were killed, but there were no mosquitoes. Positive reviews are probably given by people who cannot identify mosquitoes. Worked fine until it didn't.
The problem is that we don't easily fool these little bastards, mainly because they are incredibly smart. It happens to some but not to As a result, I have seen them try and avoid it by running into other rooms or smashing themselves into any other light source to get away from it. My only complaint is that it is not as sturdy as I would like. It died after three days and I would have been fine with it dying after a month, but it lasted only three days, so I give it one.
