These are safe to use, but I continue to use hand sanitizer on the metal parts. It's usually just the plastic rat tail combs that I use. Still, I found some of them left over from Cosmology school that I had never In my opinion, the plastic combs with the metal tail are better than the metal After I got to thinking, I decided to order some extras because I lost so many things. It is the first time I have used this brand and I can say that it is excellent When I opened the big bag tonight, I found that they'd come in a big bag. The first thing that caught my attention about these combs is that they were pink, and as my daughter loves pink, they might be a great choice. The other thing that influenced my decision was that the picture appears to show different lengths of the combs. In retrospect, the combs were a good value since we paid $8 for six combs of the same length. If the length of the comb isn't important to you, then these are good.
