Questions & Answers

What is the best method for removing the lid?

On one side, there are two clasps; lightly pull on those and the lid swings open, allowing you to fill the entire vessel with seed, from just in front of the handle to the spout. br>The clasps and hinges are plastic, but they've held up well for me so far (I've had it for a few months).

What is the opening size of the spout? I'm worried it won't fit through my square feeder opening. ?

The spout is 1 1/4 inches in diameter.

Do squirrels, mice, and chipmunks get their hands on it and chew it up?

Between filling the feeders, I keep mine full in the garage and have never had a problem with bugs or rodents chewing on or getting into the container.

Is it possible to get a video of me opening the scoop?

I'm not sure where you're getting your information from. However, there are some fasters that hook on to the side of the lid that can be used to open it by simply pressing down on them.

Those clingy labels, oh, how I despise them The product is fantastic in and of itself
4/5

The spout dispenses the seed exactly where you want it to go rather than falling all over the place like it does when you use a scoop, making filling the feeders much easier with less mess and seed waste. However, the three sticky labels that are strewn about the container (a little excessively) are difficult to remove and resistant to almost everything! They didn't even start to lift off after soaking in hot water. They had to be scraped, and then there was a ridiculous amount of residue left behind. I'm not sure why manufacturers use labels that are difficult and inconvenient to remove from products when there are labels that can be easily removed. Despite the fact that I like the container, I'm not likely to buy another because of the time-consuming task of removing all of the label gunk.

It's a good idea, but you might want to make a minor change
4/5

This container, which is used to fill a finch feeder, is in good working order but could use a minor repair. The thick and stiff plastic tether that keeps the cap from falling off is thick and stiff. I was constantly trying to keep it out of the way of the seed that was pouring into the feeder. I solved the problem by cutting that plastic strip, drilling small holes in the new 'ends,' and connecting them with wire; now the tether is 'hinged,' and the cap falls out of the way. br>br>As an aside, the container I received is clear plastic, not opaque like the product photo shows. This is an enhancement that allows the user to see how much seed is left at a glance without having to open the lid.

almost perfect
4/5

fantastic way to transport a large amount of bird seed to the feeder area without having to lug a heavy sack or an unwieldy steel can/lid arrangement. br>So far, the lid has remained snapped shut, and the snap locations have been carefully considered - They're not too close together. br>The container isn't so big that it becomes too heavy for anyone but the strongest, but it can get a little heavy for someone who isn't particularly athletic. to whit - Even though I, as an adult, can easily manage this container, our 11-year-old son cannot. Unless she uses two hands, my year old daughter, who is of a smaller, longer build, has difficulty. br>br>THE ONLY THINGS I WOULD SAY ARE THE FOLLOWING: When the volume is less than 1/2, the straight nose that protrudes from the body does not lend itself to pouring out. Many bird feeders have small spaces, and not all feeders have tops that can be removed to reveal the entire feed holding area. br>br>Because all of our feeders except one are covered tray style, pouring out the entire contents of this container necessitates a wacky dance involving the feeder, cover, and some sort of sideways container shake/pour with as little tip as this wide-body/flat-bottomed container allows. This will be possible because of the nose container. That's not a lot, is it? If this container had a slightly upturned spout instead, the contents could be easily poured into an open tube or under a covered tray feeder. br>br>Also, make sure you have that cap firmly in place, or it will flop open. But that's the only time it's happened to us. br>br>Here's the snag: the flat spout.

Perfect, quick, and with fewer spills
5/5

Everyone who has a bird feeder, I suppose, has to deal with plastic seed bags. They don't hold up well when filling the feeders; seeds spill all over the place, and the plastic bags tend to rip if not placed carefully. Alternatively, you could put the seeds in a bucket, but then you'd have to fill the feeders - seeds strewn across the floor We put up with it for a reason, don't we? Of course, because I adore birds! br>I really like the seed feeder. I placed an order for seeds and then transferred them to it once they arrived. The opening on the lid is large enough to keep seeds from spilling out while pouring. Securely closes the top. The black cover on the spout was a little difficult to remove, but a light silicone rub did the trick. The plastic lanyard that was attached to the cap kept getting in the way of pouring seeds and getting stuck inside the cap, spilling some seeds. To keep the cap out of the way, use velcro to attach it to the outside of the cap and the front of the container. br>It was reported that some users were having trouble removing the labels from the feeder. I discovered that peeling one corner of the label slowly removes it. All of them were removed with no trace of their presence. br>Refilling is made easier, faster, and less messy with the feeder. This is a highly recommended purchase.

It's so handy! It's the second time I've purchased one of these fantastic seed dispensers
5/5

They're well-made and extremely practical. As I've gotten older, I've come to realize that "simple" is far superior to "cute. " I used to have a lot of cute bird feeders and would spend a lot of time getting various kinds of seeds from bins that held 35 lbs of seed one scoop at a time, but now that my Fibromyalgia and old bones have slowed me down, I am in love with these seed totes and now use mesh wire baskets for my feathered family. I hung the baskets from a squirrel baffled feeder pole. I can fill the baskets in a tenth of the time it used to take me, and they're a lot easier to clean. Favorite blends for my woodpeckers, Cardinals, and other birds are simple to make. When closing the latch, make sure it snaps securely toward the open end. The seed will stay nice and fresh for a long time. I strongly recommend this product and plan to purchase at least two more.
