The pump seems to work fine and it is fundamentally easy to replace. Please see our separate article describing how to replace your pump with a Briggs and Stratton This engine is nearly the same as the Stratton engine. With the machine upside down on your bench, you can remove or install the pump the simplest, which means draining the gas and oil as well. Devillbiss pumps come apart easily with 4 bolts, and the center shaft bolt will require a small piece of wood about an inch square and about a foot long to stop it from rotating as the bolt is removed. Once the shaft is removed, an Allen key will remove the last piece. Take out the three screws holding the engine to the base plate and lengthen them by an inch. Now reinstall the three bolts on the engine. Moreover, get a one-inch long key that is 3/16-inch square so the engine shaft and pump collar can be connected. As the old pump has been disconnected, it is easier for you to measure them. To reopen the pump, insert the key and put some heavy grease or Never Seize in the pump slot. Reversing this and putting the key in the engine drive shaft will destroy it. After I installed the pump the first time, I had to do it again because the key was slipping out from the engine shaft when I inserted it. a) The key sticks out about a quarter inch from the pump shaft, so when you invert it and align it with the engine shaft, you can see where it goes. b) The key sticks out about a quarter inch from the pump shaft. You should pull the starter cord if you need to rotate the engine shaft and make sure that your pump outlet and inlet point in the correct directions. As soon as you insert the key, you should be able to feel it move Connect the pump to the engine, but don't lock it too tightly since the bolt is a steel one and the engine base is aluminum. To be on the safe side, I put lock washers on my bolts. Rather than reinstall the bottom plastic skid cover and the plastic piece around the ports, I opted not to do so. If your power washer breaks, do not hesitate to fix it! Anyone can install this pump. You do not need to go out and buy a new one. It is my job to repair power equipment, cars, and engines, and I have no experience in that area. The fact that I would not be able to return the pump without a loss made me hesitant to buy the pump from Amazon. The pump has been installed over a month now and I haven't written a review yet. If people leave reviews for products that have yet to be installed and used, I hate them deeply. If you have not used the product, what is the point of reviewing it? Since this was my first official gas powered washer repair, I researched getting the pump repaired before leaving for the repair shop. It was amazing how the pump was so easy to remove after removing four bolts, and I just guessed the new pump would just slip on afterward, it is so difficult to get it to go that way. Now, I'm here to tell you, that is all there was for me After watching multiple YouTube videos of other people who have done the repair, I was overprepared for a full evening of frustration, swearing, and wondering what I'd done wrong. The situation did not arise as a result. I had the pump up and running in less than 30 minutes. As far as I know, I have never had any issues with the pump facing the wrong way. Be sure to pay attention to the bolts as you remove them. A pair of bolts holds the engine to the frame. Although it is hard to explain, I do not understand why I didn't realize this when I started, the pure excitement of the repair got the better of As a general rule, I don't trust reviews that claim the replacement works better than the original equipment. It is safe to say that it does in this case. With the addition of water and pressure I had previously, I felt more relaxed. It's okay to take on this project, even if your wife is telling you to get a new one, or if your father insists he can make it work for less. I want you to know that my pump (mounted to a Troy-Bilt) has a major malfunction. There is no catch to the installation of the Honda engine in the Bilt-brand power washer. It was installed with the same three bolts that hold the engine to the frame so be sure to Due to the fact that I chose to turn my power washer upside down so that I could better access the attachment hardware, I ended up needing two people to complete the task. This team was able to support the engine so I could line up with the crankshaft key and install the bolts, nuts and bolts. I rated this 5 stars, but there was confusion as to whether the pump would arrive before I did. Oil is used to maintain the vehicle. I "live chatted" with an Amazon representative to determine whether or not I need to purchase oil for the pump. The Amazon page did not mention whether the pump would ship dry so I purchased oil separately. When contacted by the Amazon representative, I was told that the unit would not contain oil, so I purchased the strongly recommended crankcase oil (AR North America AR64545 Crankcase Oil) at the same time as my purchase of It comes with some installation instructions, but none mention whether the pump has already been serviced with oil or if any oil should be In an attempt to ensure that the pump was empty when it was equipped with oil, I tipped it over to verify that it was empty since the instructions said that it could take two gallons of oil.
