It seems to hold up just fine. My cover has a length of 38 feet and a width of 16 feet, and when rolled up it clears the ground
A 3" is what I need. I have a 40 foot long cover that is 18 feet wide. It holds the cover nicely, I thought I might need a 4," but it works nicely.
The roller was attached to mine via Velcro strips on the straps. In order to feed the straps through, you need to make tiny cuts in the blanket. Is pretty good at what it does
The screws are held on by screws. A pair of screws in the proper size is included.

As I was reading reviews while looking into solar cover reels for our pool, one thing became clear, none of them were very good. Since the purchase in April last year, nearly one and a half years, have passed. This general approach seems to work, but it will require some continued effort for the next season. Since it is designed to cover a wide assortment of pools, you will need to drill holes into the aluminum and insert grommets that hold nuts in place. Supposedly, when you put the bolt into place and tighten it, it should compress the grommet and keep the sections connected. Many of the samples worked, but a few of them failed. Since I have used it for the past year and a half, it has fallen out a lot more times. In the coming weeks, the pool will be closed, which means I will have to come up with a way to hold on to the grommets that have fallen. Could we use a long bolt and nut that goes through the whole Furthermore, I'm not happy with the way the aluminum roller tube straps are attached to the tube There is adhesive velcro on the package. It's not a huge deal since it still works and pulls the cover back with the other straps when rolled. As mentioned before, I am probably going to get some self-tanners for next season Just tap on screens and washers and use those to keep the straps in place. This roller works, but it could be better if it were more sturdy or easier to clean. For that reason, I gave it 3 stars.
In spite of no mention in the Amazon descriptions, elsewhere on the internet it appears the bar (or poles) have a diameter of 4 inches, but mine arrived from Amazon as 3 inches. The size of my pool is 16' wide by 38' long, so this concerns me. Sagging was a concern for me. Sagging does not appear to be a problem with the 12mil covers I use. According to the directions on the box, the cover can cover up to 20 x 40. The 18' model I ordered seems a little odd since I ordered the 20' As well as industrial velcro, I used rubber bands. Casters don't impress me at all, the bearings are exposed, so you will need to lubricate them once in a while. I wonder why they are so expensive. They don't seem to be very interesting. As a whole, it looks and works well, and I am interested in buying it.
The cost may go up, but expect to do more work as well. My first reel system works fine after I put in a little extra effort, but it takes a bit more time than expected. In the beginning, if you do not have a 1/2" drill bit ($10), you will need to buy one ($10) to drill into the aluminum tubes so that the 1/2" molly bolts can be inserted. Secondly, if you do not have some industrial strength velcro ($5), you may have to buy some as the included velcro adhesive will fall off within 10 days exposed to Last, the instructions aren't very clear about where to drill the holes in the self-locking mechanism Attaching the tubes extensions to the end pieces with screws. To help prevent items from falling out of place, tap screws. Lastly, two of the molly bolts came loose after a few weeks and are not there any more Several types of standard are available (metric, rubber grommets). There is no email address for the website manufacturer. Your needs can be discussed over the phone. It may not be necessary to use molly bolts. Self-awareness is better, but not sufficient Screws are tapped into the tube length to hold it in place. The aluminum tube is generally pretty sturdy, the covers are easy to put on and take off, and they're light enough to move out of the way when you aren't using them.
Ultimately, the rubberized bolts that hold the tube together were unable to support the weight of the pool cover, and the tube began bowing in the middle. There was also a problem with the tube ends slipping, so there was no good connection between the tubes and the handle. There is no way it can hold even a medium-weight cover of 18 by 36 feet. Buying the next cover winder (system with reels) will cost a greater amount of money.
Prior to writing this review, I made use of the product for a month. To go along with the casters, I ordered them extra. This is a product that I am generally not happy with.
1. With medium winds, it will tip over when the cover is across the pool. With too little wind, it tends to blow over. As well, you are required to stand on one of the bars when unwinding the pool or to keep your foot on the bar. They are very poor quality and do not contain screws, mounts, velcro, or straps. Right now, I am in the process of requesting replacement parts, since the bolts that hold the tubes together are coming
3. (I am a mechanical engineer who did install drill and assemble in the best way he could. ) Velcro comes right off and the reel cover is not attached to the cover. The fourth point. The reel should be further secured with an additional stop on the handle and opposing side of the reel, since nothing prevents it from moving back and forth as it is wound or unwound. The one positive I can point out about this system is that the bar to which the cover reels onto itself is of a quality gauge and the only good thing about it. This factor, however, is muted because there are so many other components working at the same time.
Prior to purchasing this reel system, I read reviews on Amazon and thus I was aware to expect some assembly issues which I did However, there were some errors in the instructions (e. g. , e. g. , "He put a false label on a tube that contained electricity. In the past, screw head sizes were measured in metric rather than English). My expectations had been to make a trip to the hardware store to buy parts, and I did have to make that trip as I needed some additional parts to fully assemble There is good news which is that the reel system works well and is fairly sturdy. br> My pole is a 5 inch diameter one with a rigid enough core to span the 16 foot wide pool without You can roll up the cover in just a few minutes and do so easily and quickly. Additionally, unrolling the cover is easy as well, and I added a bar at the end to which I attached a rope, thereby making the process faster and easier. Even so, I feel that this reel system is worth the cost, despite the expected difficulties during the assembly process.
Well, it's so simple to use, no matter where he is, even I can use it without his help while he's.
