They have outstanding customer service. I ordered this hose caddy at the end of April and just got around to making it work. Let me tell you what I can do- In this odd year of 2020, there have been a lot of surprises. I found that the crankshaft assembly was absent from the box when I began assembling the caddy. During the setup of the hose caddy, I manually turned the reel wheels to ensure proper positioning. For a long time, however- As for the crankshaft, I wanted it for short-term use. Since I tried to e-mail Amazon to request the missing part, it was too late. I had to order the crankshaft from the Ames website. I had no trouble finding and ordering the part, but there was no way to pay for it on the website. Following that, I received an email from Ames saying that the company would send the missing crankshaft free of charge since it was covered under That's pretty cool. *This is a heavy caddy that seems sturdy. I am impressed with Ames prompt and generous customer service! In comparison to the plastic caddy I am replacing, this is an even better product. In the assembly instructions, everything is explained in detail. As a customer, I have high hopes for this caddy, and Ames has created a loyal following for its customer service.

Since I am a man, it is probably not the right person to respond to this since it is a basic function I need. The attached rolling hose does just what I need, which is to roll up the hose, move it to the garage during the winter, and then pull out when I need it in the summer. During some seasons during the year, most of the work is done outdoors. It does what it's suppose to do, and I probably have only You need to move the circular ball on the top of the hose wheel manually to get the hose rolled up over the whole wheel, rather than on one side. It's not a big deal, but know you'll have to do it if you're not an expert. I also noticed that the screws used on this are made of steel rather than aluminum and rusted quite a bit. There have been other comments on this topic. Regardless, they rust out eventually and will need to be replaced eventually. I've had this thing for over a year now and I am okay with that. My guess is that it will take a few years. Generally, it's a well-made gun with a little different handle, but all of the mechanisms work fine. At this price point, there will be some things that aren't perfect, and you get what you pay for. Although I wouldn't recommend it, it remains a good book.

The side of the container emptied more water than usual. This first seemed to be caused by my house not making a good connection to the Internet. Later on, after disassembly, the fitting was discovered to be cracked in two inside the rotating assembly and the o-ring did not seal properly. Despite having a seal, the ring failed to provide one. In fact, I would have returned, but it took me just outside of the return period to find this. The screws on the handle were stripped and I also received an extra handle, so I do not appear to be the first user. Although I would highly recommend this product, the fact that I received it broken made me wonder if it is actually as durable as I'd expect from a metal cart. It would have been better to save the money and get a disposable plastic bottle.

We have the same type, but ours sits on the ground, which makes it much harder to crank the hose when I am crouching down. So long as the hose remains close to any other object and doesn't go around any other objects, you can turn it. I suspect there would be an easier time cranking this if it was mounted This is a beautiful sturdy piece of furniture.

This seems to do the job very well and is attractive to look at. As well as being able to last for years, I did not want to add to the ever increasing plastic garbage pile. This item met both of these criteria. Assembly was easy and it appears to be of good quality. There is no complicated process involved in reeling in the hose. Connections to the hose haven't been an issue for me. As far as I can tell, the only problem I've ever encountered is that it does tend to tip over if I pull on the hose too hard or in an awkward position. This would be true for anything not bolted to the ground. Many of my neighbors have complemented me on it and are planning to buy one for themselves too. The second one is ready to be ordered for the backyard.

Update Two of these have been in my life for about a year and a half now. The results are still very satisfactory to me. Despite being so old, they are still going strong. It appears that a couple of the screws have started to rust, but since it doesn't need to be disassembled, I don't think it's a big deal. I would suggest replacing the screws that come with it with galvanized screws before assembling it if that is an issue for you. The game still gets a 5 out of 5.

There was rust at almost every joint/union after using it for less than 6 weeks. It was absurdly expensive and not worth it at all. Sorry to hear that.

The unit worked for a while, but after a year, it stopped working. The slider that the hose passes through mostly becomes stuck, the shell doesn't spin well, and the black hose between the unit and the water spout gets kinked up half the time. There have to be constant adjustments made to the overall design to get it to work properly, but the slider will always have to be moved manually since a lot of the time it sticks. I have been trying to find something else to replace the new item that I liked. In the past few years, the hose has mostly remained wound up on the ground due to the discomfort of using this hose wheel. The one I did was not for me.

It is very sturdy and looks good. It was for the dog shelter where my wife and I volunteer. Despite the fact that my order had been processed, I was immediately asked if I would like an open box item at a reduced price. The box gets thrown away, so I guess we can do that!.
