Questions & Answers

The majority of the lawn in my yard is packed soil after I removed clover plants that I now want to seed. Would this loosen the soil sufficiently so that reseeding could be accomplished?

The dethatcher does what it says. There is no intent to loosen soil with the tines only to scratch the thatch loose.

What should I do to prevent the dethatcher from adding any weight to the system?

You will only bounce behind your tractor if you don't add any weight. There is a spring steel tine that you can add a little weight to or go very slowly on. The two pavers (1 1/2 inch thick) I used worked well and were 8 x 16 inches. I did a couple of passes and the existing grass did not get torn up.

The soil in a tilled garden will be cleaned?

While it is not intended for tilled soil, it could probably be used to move across the soil and function as a rake to remove debris if the soil is not too coarse. Then again, I'm not sure that it would be able to break up clods of dirt anyway.

In order for the hitch to reach the ground, how high does it have to be?

There is probably a 6 to 8 inch difference. I have it in the shed now that I have it taken apart. This is pulled with a John Deere E170 with two concrete blocks on the

It is a really good product
5/5

The dethatcher works really well. This process of removing old grass removed the old soil on top of it. This churned out the bald spots in my yard, and I am quite pleased with the product. At first I did not have any weights on top of this, and it did a fabulous job, even on uneven After that, I placed two 16" x 16" x 2" lawn pavers on top, which filled in those bald spots nicely. Pulling it behind a snapper lawnmower is most convenient for me. My guess is that the poor reviews are due to lack of understanding. When I purchased this product in May 2018, this product was a great deal for the price of $79 . It's likely that if you spent more money on a device, it would have more features and would be of better quality. In spite of that, the performance is superb for the money. It's hard for me to imagine how a homeowner who maintains his own lawn could do worse I found the overall construction to be quite sturdy and easy to assemble.

It was a breeze to build this product
5/5

A 5 out of 5. AUTHORIZATION FOR ASSEMBLY The people are wrong, regardless of what they say. It was a breeze to build this product. You will only need basic tools that you can get in a harbor freight tool kit for less than twenty bucks. There are only pictures in the directions, but they are very easy to follow. It's still true. I have a feeling you already own the tools for the job here if you are going to purchase a tow dethatcher for your lawn tractor. ASSESSMENT OF FUNCTIONALITY The program works great! The thatching in my front lawn rose to a tenth of what it was before. It is a good size pile as well. In 1993, this house was built, and I just bought it recently. In conclusion, I would assume that this lawn has never had this process done because of the size of the piles. I was able to bring it all up without any issues. It would be a good purchase for anyone with half a brain and basic tools to assist them in their work Best of luck with the dethatching.

I don't understand why people are whining so much
5/5

I have updated The rating ranges from four to five stars. Exactly what I wanted! As with measuring twice, cutting once is also a good habit. Do not put any weight on the dethatcher at first. My tines clogged when I placed a couple patio bricks on it, so it dug right into my lawn. I love it! I was perfectly able to use it with zero weight. Despite this, I was able to use the dethatcher and my grass catcher at the same time. The only issue I had was that the catcher interfered with the dethatcher when I turned I am the only one who can address this. It would lift the table off the ground a few inches on one side. It is possible for you to use the site differently. Basically, there are no problems, and I stand by my original statements, especially that there is absolutely no need to pay more, and the price we pay is the one we pay. It is the same for them all. As I prepared my due diligence before choosing these dethatchers, I wanted to ensure they would be able to meet my expectations. It wasn't the performance that was to blame for the low ratings, but rather the fact that they weren't able to assemble them. So don't reply in an angry manner to me in the future, I don't mean any disrespect. Yesterday, I received the box. I just can't handle that weight! When you buy a product made in the United States, you receive everything mentioned above. Regardless of whether this is a cheaper model or not, there is no reason to spend a lot more if it is a cheap one. In any case, this is from a DIY homeowner, so perhaps it would make a difference in a commercial setting. It's all about the You need to organize. Put everything in its place. Get all the tools you need Make sure you read them all! Make sure to keep the illustrations close at hand and study them. Make sure you give yourself at least two hours and be patient. My knowledge of hammers is limited to what end to use. I am no rocket scientist. Although sometimes it was a bit confusing, even if you make a mistake, you still have a chance to fix it. In order to get every piece, which I did, it helps to have all of the pieces. It is important to know which bolts and nuts go together. Be patient. You don't want to get this wrong. It is better to not do it at all if you have no time to do it right. This is the way my father would say it. With care, this is a good piece of equipment and, with care, it will last me until I am no longer in need of As for my neighbor, he will use it on his home tractor so you're sure to be able to use it on your toy. I will attach it to my TroyBilt Tonka toy rear engine mower and I will use it on his. I did not mention the YouTube video, but I have been told it is there if it is needed. This weekend, I intend to use it, and I don't anticipate any It is a fairly simple piece of gear. Bite the bullet. Once you've done it, it should last a long time. Just keep a wrench on the bolts and you'll be able to use it for years to come. As far as my purchase is concerned, I am happy with it. Due to the fact that I have yet to use it, I didn't give it 5 stars. My next update will be in a few days.

The program works well
4/5

It is manufactured in the United States. Assembles easily however, the hitch on the detachment should be more than two feet. This dethatcher was purchased recently for the church lawn, which is approximately one acre in size. As a result of my learning, here are some lessons. This assembly includes If you need to loosen or tighten nearly all of the nuts or bolts, you will need a 1/2" socket and 1/2" boxed end wrench (boxed end wrenches will work, but they will be more labor intensive). For installing the wheels, you'll need a 9/16" wrench and a 3/4" wrench. For installing the tines, a large flat blade screw driver will do, as well as a pair of pliers for clamping the guide wires. For the assembly process, make sure you leave about one and a half hours. Assembling the dethatcher was easier after setting up a couple of saw horses and a piece of plywood on top. I sat on a chair and assemble the dethatcher that way. Be sure to follow the instructions shown in the picture. It is essential that you place the dethatcher in the same direction as the pictures and follow along the steps. Watch the pictures carefully, and you will easily understand what is going on. All parts were included and the drawings of the nuts and bolts explained the size of the bolts in detail, so there was no need for guesswork. There is also an added bonus the bolts are grade 5 (heavy-duty). If your unit is not mounted on a solid surface, you'll have difficulty bending the holders of the tines. This is the concrete floor on which mine is set. As soon as I put it all together, I was ready to start working. I gave the unit a 4 out of 5 stars for this reason the coping mechanism was badly designed. A John Deere D140 riding lawn mower is an integral part of our outdoor equipment. It wasn't long enough to connect the dethatcher to the mower's towing connection. To fix this, I removed one of the bolts and moved the hitch forward a bit so that it was secured by just one bolt. It worked, but the hitch was about an inch too short. A flawless dethatcher was used. Even without adding any extra weight, I still managed to complete the workout. Pleasantly surprised, I found the result. It did not take us long to remove all of the thatch in the entire acre. A great advantage is that it is made in the United States.

Suitable for some lawn tractors, but may not be suitable for all
3/5

Those are the good and bad points. It was good that the instructions, despite being somewhat complex, were straightforward. To put it together, it took about two hours. There is a bad side As I mentioned previously, the arm for my Troy Bilt pony did not fit at all. It would not even fit for the pin to be put in (connector plate was In that case, the price was This can only be made possible if I have a workshop with lots of junk. Having to drop it four inches below the Pony hitch was a necessity. Furthermore, I had to put rocks on top of it in order to keep it stable. The hitch pins on this thing need spacers and extra long pins because it hooks up to tractors with.
