There is no need for additional supports if you will be towing a heavier trailer with it. It can be attached with the one bolt. There is a bolt included with the hitch, but a 3/4" bolt will work as well.

It turned out, however, that my hitch plate was too weak for heavy loads, so I had to reinforce it otherwise it just bent out of shape when I made my trailer attachment. A real sturdy one. Separate mounting brackets were also purchased for the hitch so it would be stable. Prepare to drill 3 holes in the wood so that you can mount the board. There is a lot of metal on JD so I suggest using good metal bits. I have snap on brand. Cheap bits are going to make the job much more difficult. I had to notch both corners of the bottom plate because of the distorted vertical position of my tractor. I had to go through the bend of the hitch to do so. My first test was to saw through the steel plate to find out how hard it is. The bottom plate of the ULGTH had to be chamfered before the mounting screw could be tightened in order to keep it from shifting when tightened. (2) Unless you use a socket of the right size, even tightening the hitch ball is nearly impossible. The wrench is a large box end wrench, even though I have it. As the nut is situated in a narrow channel, the bolt could not fit in the channel. There was still too little space above the nut, even when I used a longer shank ball with a 1" spacer. There is probably a socket that would fit, but I do not own My overall opinion on the ULGTH is favorable. The brace kit should be purchased By no means is it a waste of money.

A stainless steel piece was replaced with this item, and it did what it was meant to do, but unfortunately, Only thing that disappointed me was that it did not come with a reinforcement, which was available but I did not receive. The kit should include everything needed to perform this task. Because I didn't want to wait for shipping, I made my own. This item has a powder coating that looks great. As of yet, I have not tested the app, but I will continue to do so.
