Questions & Answers

It is noted in one of the reviews that the plug is only two-prong and not the three-prong It's probably the case that all outdoor extension cords are three pronged with the ground at the end. If you have a three prong grounded extension cord, do you think this will work?

In addition, it did not make sense to me why it was not a 3-pronged design. It's a machine I've had to give up using, maybe 25 or more years old, because the plug started pulling away from the short wire. (the only weak link on this machine) I was going to fix it, but I couldn't find the same part. I was going to replace the machine, because it had that stubby end and all that pulling made me think there was nothing to be gained by leaving it in. The two prong machine doesn't care if there is an extra hole in the plug in. In any case, if the machine only has two prongs, then I guess it is not necessary to have three.

How does it work? Does it have a power adapter?

Power sweep comes equipped with a short power cord which can be connected to an extension cord. There is no extension cord included with the Toro 51585. This item is very popular with my wife and she uses it frequently. There is little weight to it, but it is a powerful machine.

How strong are the replacement bags for this product? What is the cost of replacing them? Does the machine have a way to replace the plastic blades (for shredding) with metal blades?

It is not obvious how a replaceable bag could work since it would have to be able to allow air flow without releasing too much dust. The cost would also not be significantly lower than the bag included with this item.

Also, does there seem to be an attachment (different nozzels and such)?

I think this is a great little, lightweight blower, well worth the purchase price.

Buy the one that suits your application
3/5

Useful tool used everyday, but buy the one that suits your needs. A much older model that I gave away inspired me to buy this one. There will likely be a lot of discussion about how it differs from the earlier corded Toro blower from about 15 years ago. I have found that this blower has proven to be quite useful in my circumstances in a short amount of time If I had a large yard, a cordless mower would be the better choice. In the event I need something really powerful, perhaps a gas-powered model is the way to go. It is a good low cost compressed air that makes sense for my back yard since the mesquite trees drop something (leaves, pollen, beans) daily plus it is dusty in Arizona and you want dust blown off the furniture each day. A corded model is much better than a gas model because it doesn't have to rely on batteries and a 100 foot cable on a reel makes its use much simpler than a battery model gas is too much and smelly It means a charger and the station it needs to be charged at and perhaps forgetting one day and discovering it won't In general, I think it is better to be free of the cord than be without it, but the added costs and battery issues make it a better choice. As for the upcoming machine, it is a bit more powerful than the previous one and it will have two speeds, the lower speed is quite handy when it starts blowing around chairs or tables -- especially since things don't go flying off. The mph of an engine's output is not an indication of whether it is good or bad. With a straw that goes 400 miles per hour, you can drink. If you want to make a comparison, you might want to take a look at the amperage ratings rather than the velocity ratings, which I think is more accurate. While having a faster stream of air does have considerable benefits, it is also not necessarily a blessing. This is strong enough to blow rocks out of the borders, a faster stream would not be as useful without a much larger There are fewer parts to it, it doesn't have quite so long a body, but it is generally more compact The lighter the better, but not too Although the weight was reduced, I guess I expected it to be smaller as I get older. Still, I have no Streams can be filtered or directed to specific locations, which is a really good improvement even if the change is small. Cord keepers consist of a small hook and a connector on a stub of cord, rather than a depression in the body for the head of the cord to sit in My other one never came off in 15 years of use, but this one has come off once in my first few days. I am experiencing a speed boost but there are no noticeable differences in noise. As a trade-off, I believe it is a good one to make due to its reasonable pricing The device functions as an electric cord.

It is worthless to carry a warranty
3/5

The leaf blower I purchased began to leak gas shortly after I bought it. Since the issue is covered under the warranty, I called Toro. In any case, it takes close to 40 minutes for them to reply. According to them, the warranty would be honored and that it should be taken to a Toro dealer close by. In my next paragraph, I will list the many inaccuracies I found in that report. To begin with, they do not have a current list of local Toro agents. There were multiple non-Toro agents on the phone that I called. In addition, I chose to go to a specific agent after I was told to, despite Covid's recommendations. When I got there, I realized The time is 30 minutes. There is no service for residential blowers. They told me they don't work on them. I will move on to the next step. I was given the list of a dealer near me that Toro checked out and was sure is available to service their products. Those were the places I went to. It's now been seven hours since I started working on it. Now read on to see what follows. No matter where I have proof of purchase, date of purchase, etc. , they will still ask A $50 check from me and for the machine to be left behind, so they might be able to check if it is still My client and I received an email that informed me that Toro would let them know about the warranty. You can either have it repaired or you can have a new one sent. My 47 dollars as well as the machine are kept by the dealer if it is not under warranty. Finally, I would like to introduce Toro to you They have a customer service center in their corporate headquarters. The dealership owner states that this is reasonable since those agents are independent. In this case, they offered me an option, which was to ship the Toro back at my own expense, and they too would look at the machine to see The company will send me a new unit if they believe the problem is due to the manufacturer (although their terms and conditions concerning the warranty are not specified on their website). In the event they decide it's not covered by the warranty, they will return it to me free of charge Repairs were made. As multiple agents said, it's used and reconditioned Toro products that are sold through Amazon, so if something goes wrong with what is bought from Amazon, it's not worth anyone's time to get involved. You should be careful when buying. If they claim a warranty and sell on Amazon, Toro should not be so disingenuous as to disguise it as a warranty when they knowingly follow up with customers to ensure they will abandon their purchase.

As soon as it was used, it started a fire
3/5

After only 15 minutes of blowing, the new blower caught fire. The fire was 10 feet from my house, and it was extraordinarily dangerous. Either my arm could catch fire, or I could drop it on dry leaves in fear, causing an out-of-control fire. My dealer sent me to a Toro authorized dealer to check it out I will call them in the near future. Now that the process has reached this point, it is annoying. They want to question my time and effort to drive this junk to the dealer as if I was at fault for a fire that occurred. Regardless of how stupid a user may be, a machine shouldn't be on fire. In the design of safety precautions, this ought to be a basic concept. am hoping that the situation can be resolved quickly as we are in the middle of leaf picking After the final outcome is determined and the process has been outlined, I will report back.

It was amazing how powerful this machine is! It's the perfect blower for the job! In the absence of a commercial landscaper or gardener, or someone who is working with tons of acreage, I cannot imagine you wouldn't be able to handle this blower
5/5

Our large yard takes it to a whole new level and it blows very well! The way we did it was great. This is very strong and light, and I appreciate how cheap, light, and powerful it is. Although I read so many reviews, I wasn't sure. All the other blowers I looked at were so much more expensive, but this brand is a great one, and I can't tell you how happy I am! This compact weed-eater is a favorite item around our house because I leave it on the back porch every day and just reach for it and go through the yard every day because it's so easy and does the job within When I was a kid I used to find it very tedious to drag out the giant blower I had and then have to hang it. It was a large and ugly machine. You probably don't think that small stuff can make a difference, but it is possible, so I strongly recommend this to everyone! Moreover, if you are older or have arthritis, you will find that it is easier to operate!.
