Using the measurements from one of the photos, I cut the access hole last night, before the panel arrived. This required a 12" x 12" cut-out. in which the panel will be slid into The outer edge of the lip around the access hole turns out to be 11 inches long. I should have cut a hole 11 13/16" square instead of 75". br>br>While the panel is reasonably sturdy and adequate for the price, the dimensional inaccuracies are a nuisance.
A 12" by 12" hole in the wall will be covered by this panel. The panel measures 14" x 14" in size. The panel's recess (the part that goes into the wall) is 11 3/4" by 11 3/4" and 21/32" deep. Because of the plaster coating, our sheetrock wall thickness varies between 41/64 and 45/64. br>I did not need to make any modifications to the panel recess in order for it to fit against the wall studs. br>The panel has been a success for us.
That's all I have to say on the subject. It's easy, it's inexpensive, and it'll get the job done. br>However, there is no handle on it. There are no instructions on how to use it. There isn't even any glue in it. It'll be held in place with strips. br>I'm fine with it because it's all I really need. But don't expect any niceties or frills.

This access panel is reasonably priced but feels solid. It closes firmly and stays that way. It is sturdy and on the outside, despite being made of plastic. The space required for the facing side is minimal. I'm very happy with it.
