I was worried when I bought these because I thought they might have a logo sticker on the outside like the listing photo, but they don't. br>The access panels are well-made and feature three locks to keep them flush with the frame. We've installed one latch on the majority of the other access panels we've installed. When installing the other access panels, the sides sag down, leaving an unsightly gap, or you bend the latch to close the gap, making the panel difficult to latch shut. The frame, hinge, and panel all went together smoothly and worked perfectly.
For an existing remodel, it's a bit of a pain. I purchased the 6x6 box in order to gain access to a gas line shutoff that had been hidden by the previous owner's remodeling project. I have nothing to screw the box into because the shutoff is right between two studs and the studs are 16" OC. I ended up cutting a hole in the drywall and screwing a couple of 2x4 cutoffs to the drywall on the hole's edge to secure it. I wish they had a remodel feature similar to electrical remodel boxes that didn't require studs to be secured, but it did the job. There was a lot more messing around than I had hoped for.
These access doors have stainless steel cam locks, which are clearly stated in the description. What's more, the seller claims that this applies only to 12 x 12 and larger prints. WHO KNEW? It would have been helpful to know this before making a purchase. They've been installed (at a reduced price) and cannot be returned, or they'll end up on the shelf again. Is it possible that some people are so lazy that they can't even provide an accurate item description to sell their goods? For the sake of sales, they have to leave out certain details? It's so sad.
The fit and finish were excellent. Overspray and metal bends weren't as tidy as they could have been. We chose an alternative product because it had a better fit and finish, as well as miterless edges that allowed the panel to sit flush against the wall. This model requires stud mounting, whereas an alternative model included flip toggles that could be mounted directly to drywall.
I was looking for something better after ordering another one that was made of flimsy plastic (not by this company). This was the final straw. It's ideal for my requirements and is extremely durable.
The panel is appealing. With a couple of 1 inch runners, I used 1/2 inch drywall.
The only issue I see is that you have to pry the cover open, which isn't a big deal because you'll already have a screwdriver in your hand.
High-quality product that is simple to set up.
