Hello, the thermometer on a Genesis 1000, as well as this replacement thermometer, does not have a retention mechanism. It's likely that a layer of carbon accumulated over the 23 years, causing the thermometer to seal tightly. With proper use, this thermometer should be able to achieve the same results. Thanks!
It should fit if your temperature gauge is on the side and can be slid in and out.
The thermometer will only fit Weber grills with a thermometer mounted on the edge of the grill lid (not in the center), as the other seller mentioned. Because Genesis Silver A models were made with both thermometer placements (depending on the year), the best way to determine if this one is right for you is to look at the position of the thermometer.
No, a Spirit 210 will not work with this. You'll almost certainly need the shorter probe thermometer (item number 60392) with the wingnut to keep it in place.

Today it arrived. It is completely unnoticed. Weber was supposed to deliver more. Now I have to deal with returning it! br>br>7/22/18 Update: Let me tell you something. One day after receiving it, it is not returnable. Buh- bye $14!.
After about 30 years, my Weber Silver B gas grill's original thermometer needed to be replaced. It appears that this one is the same as the previous one. Because other reviewers had remarked on its accuracy, I decided to double-check my own with a digital probe thermometer placed inside the grill. When compared to the digital thermometer, the Weber thermometer showed a temperature range of 15 to 30 degrees higher. I never compared the old thermometer to this one, so it's possible that the difference was the same. Now that I'm aware of the difference, I'll have to account for it when grilling anything that requires a long period of cooking at a low temperature.
I needed a replacement for the grill's thermometer, which had stopped working. In every way, the substitute was perfect. I'm overjoyed that I was able to obtain the genuine article. However, after using the grill for a while, the head of the thermometer separated from the shaft when attempting to remove it from the grill lid. I recently purchased a replacement and applied a high-temperature anti-static coating to the outside of the head. It's easy to get in and out of the seize compound. I'm hoping that this solves the issue.
Installed the new thermometer and cooked several times, noting that it took nearly twice as long to cook each time. After a few uses, I checked the temperature with an oven thermometer inside the grill. Then I used the over thermometer to raise the grill temperature to 500 degrees, which is what I recommend for grilling. In the process, the new Weber thermometer I had purchased had gone past its high limit and was now completely useless on the low temperature side!.
I had an old Weber thermometer that had become caked over the course of 15 years of use. This small unit seemed to give me a much more accurate reading after I installed it. My other thermometer didn't register the correct temperature, so I ended up overcooking my food and wasting gas. It's not cheap, but it gets the job done.
My Weber Silver A is equipped with a quick-release mechanism. Because the thermometer in the hood requires an exact diameter face size, less expensive alternatives were unable to secure because they were not the exact size required. br>br>At twice the price, the Weber version has their logo on the front and fits perfectly.
This is an original replacement for the thermometer that was broken in my grill. It was simple to set up and has been performing admirably for months.
