Questions & Answers

Is this suitable for a large green egg?

I purchased two Joetisseries, one for Classic Joe and the other for Big Joe. The Large BGE fits perfectly in the Classic Joe, and the XL BGE fits perfectly in the Big Joe. If I had the ability, I would upload photos.

Will this work with the Kamado professional s series? The grill, I believe, is 18" in diameter. The dimensions are 32 inches wide by 47 inches tall. The width is 25 inches, and the depth is 27 inches. 5 in?

Frankie, if the diameter of your grill is 32 inches, it will not fit. The inside diameter of the base of my Kamado Joe Classic grill is 19 5/16 inches. The JoeTisserie insert has a lip that slides into the Joe Classic, - that is 18 5/8 inches in length So there's some wiggle room on my Joe Classic to center the insert.

Is it compatible with the XL Green Egg?

My XL Big Green Egg fits perfectly in the big joe size joetisserrie.

Is there anything that needs to be adjusted on the large bge dome?

Nope. There will be no changes. It fits perfectly, and the ability to rotisserie an egg is fantastic; it's a very clever design.

Selected User Reviews For Kamado Joe BJ-TISSERIENA JoeTisserie Big Joe, Black

Is it really necessary to add yet another item to your collection? The standard of excellence has been met
3/5

The issue is that it's advertised as a Kamado Joe accessory but actually fits a friend's green egg better. When used on a Kamado Joe classic ii, the seal and small diameter leave something to be desired. If you use it frequently, I can see this compromising your gasket over time. br>br>After a few uses, I came to the conclusion that, even if it did fit properly, spinning meat isn't for me. In my opinion, the fat dripping directly onto the coals for such a long time creates an unpleasant odor and taste. br>br>I was surprised to find that items that cook faster, such as Picanha, were also unappealing on the Joetisserre. It simply didn't compare to leaning it against an open flame with sticks, as gauchos do. br>br>I'll stick to spatchcock or upright chickens with a drip pan, traditional low-and-slow grilling, and quick searing directly over the coals. br>br>I freely admit that I selected the incorrect tool for the job. During a pandemic, I blame all the rave reviews and my renewed enthusiasm for my Kamado Joe. br>br>It is hoped that this review will provide an alternative viewpoint to someone in a similar situation.

This is a fantastic addition to your KJC! I only got to use it once before writing this review because of the weather and my work schedule
5/5

The first dish I tried was rotisserie chicken, or more specifically, JoeTisserie chicken. I added a little cherry wood smoke and it was fantastic, even better than fantastic! Hopefully, I'll be able to use it again this weekend, - Depending on the weather! Perhaps some more chicken, or some boneless pork butt? br>br>A few things to keep in mind: br>1) It does not come with an instruction manual; however, I do not believe you require one. 2) I don't have a recipe book - Shouldn't you get something at the very least? br>3) It appears that the JoeTisserie motor is not waterproof - JoeTisserie: No, it's not a rainy day. (br>4) Your left side shelf gets in the way; it should be down. br>5) My instant read thermometer needs to be more "instant," but that's a different product review. br>6) The JoeTisserie motor cord is a 3-foot long. 5 prongs, 120V, and length of a foot Finally, the JoeTisserie insert adds air gaps, which will change up your temperature-control game. br>br>You'll probably need an extension cord. br>br> It's not a major issue. This is just something to keep in mind when using a JoeTisserie for the first time. br>br>On my blog, I did a JoeTisserie review, complete with specifications straight from the delivery truck and photos of my first cook. Overall, this is a KJC accessory that you should add to your shopping list!.

At this price point, I had hoped for a much more powerful motor and a better ring fit
3/5

Aside from the infamously bad Kamado Joe cover (what were/are you thinking? ), ), this is the only other Kamado Joe product that I don't think is up to par. The grills themselves are incredible, and they are not only the best ceramic grill on the market, but also the best value, in my opinion. They also have fantastic customer service - About 9 months ago, I had to replace the top vent, and it was a very simple, no-questions-asked procedure. The Big Joe Joetisserie, on the other hand, is a different story. If you're anything like me, you've been waiting nearly a year for it to come out. I purchased it about 8 weeks ago and have only used it for two cooks so far - The first was a hit, but the second was a close second. A few weeks ago, I made a turkey that was a disaster. The Pros: br>br>The Pros: br>br>The Pros: br>b
- It's a simple rotisserie that should suffice for most uses. br>- Your Big Joe will be able to wear it. In fact, it's the only rotisserie that will fit your Big Joe, so if you want a rotisserie, this is your only option. br>br>The bad:
- It costs $300, but its motor isn't a $300 rotisserie motor, which is a problem because the Big Joe was designed to cook Big Food (or a lot of food). I have a Weber kettle with a Weber rotisserie that cost half as much as the Kamado Joe's, and the Weber's motor felt better than the Kamado Joe's. You might wonder how much you can tell by "feel. " A rotisserie, on the other hand, is a simple household electric motor with some gears, and an electric motor like the Joetisserie gets its twisting force (torque) from three basic areas - Unless we're talking about rare earth metals like neodymium alloy or a superconducting environment, permanent magnet strength is proportional to the size of the magnet; however, unless we're talking about rare earth metals like neodymium alloy or a superconducting environment, permanent magnet strength is proportional to the size of the magnet. Neither of these are true in this instance - The weight of a coil increases as the number of wires used increases. I haven't disassembled the motor to examine the interior, but plastic gearing would not surprise me. The motor on the Joetisserie is *extremely* light, which was immediately apparent when it was opened.

- According to the product's packaging, it's rated for a 50-pound person. lb load. Naturally, this entails a 50/50 split. lb load. Some cuts of meat are simple to balance - Other meats are extremely difficult/impossible to balance, such as a large beef roast; other meats are extremely difficult/impossible to balance - as if it were a chicken or a turkey This rotisserie, however, costs $300. To be worth the money, it must be capable of handling unbalanced loads. Unfortunately, this is not the case. I made a 20-pound roast chicken. A few weeks ago, I made a pound turkey for Thanksgiving, and the weight was definitely unbalanced. I tried everything I could to keep the load balanced, but it was impossible. The load was roughly split 65/35, according to my calculations. This is a significant imbalance, and a low-cost rotisserie motor would most likely be incapable of spinning it. The Joetisserie was able to spin it once and then simply kept swinging the heavy part of the load back and forth as it reversed direction over and over. Unfortunately for me, I was unaware of this for about 5 minutes because I shut the lid as soon as I saw the load spin once. I would have had a burnt breast and an under-cooked egg if I hadn't checked a few minutes later. Thanksgiving dinner would have been a letdown if the thigh and back had not been cooked. To the credit of the Kamado Joe grill, it only took a few minutes to remove the turkey from the Joetisserie and set up the grill for indirect heat, resulting in a delicious semi-cooked turkey. turkey that has been smoked.

- The lid closes, but only just, and I'm worried about the stress on the hinge and the weak seal toward the front of the grill as a result. The issue is that the back of the lid meets the back of the Joetisserie ring while the front of the ring is still a few inches away from closing. The lid will still close, but the back part of the ring is simply too high for a good fit. By increasing the size of the wall that extends into the grill, the Kamado Joe team can reduce the height of the back ring without sacrificing rigidity, making this a fixable issue.

- When using the Joetisserie, the divide and conquer rack cannot be left in place due to the ring's construction. This is important because you'll want to catch drippings so you don't end up with a complete mess at the bottom of your grill, and the best way to do so is to place a pan on a heat deflector underneath your meat. Unfortunately, this isn't possible, so you'll have to use the grill divider heat plate and rig some tinfoil on the front half of the grill where there isn't a fire. This works, but it's an inconvenient mess if you have a lot of fluids coming off during your cook, such as from basting, injected meat, or a fatty cut of meat. If the Kamado Joe designers tweaked their design and made a few minor changes, They might be able to address this if they have any outs in the ring. br>br>Conclusion:br>I would buy this again if the opportunity arose, but not for $300. There's no excuse for such a weak motor in such a high-priced product, and the ring could use a few tweaks to make it a great product worthy of the premium price. For a company that has nailed the market for ceramic grills while beating the incumbent's price, quality, and features, I'm surprised the Joetisserie isn't a better product.

It's a cinch to use
5/5

This is what I use on my XL Big Green Egg. It's a cinch to use. It was a perfect match. There is one minor snag: you must remove the Jotisserie ring before turning everything off. It's not a completely airtight fit; there's a tiny amount of air leakage. If you keep it in, it will take a little longer to extinguish everything. Apart from that, there have been no problems so far.

Rotisserie to die for! To begin, let me say that this is a fantastic rotisserie, and I've been waiting for someone to design one for years
4/5

It was fantastic with a four-bone prime rib roast and chickens. It can be used on both the Large Big Green Egg and the Primo Kamado and fits perfectly on both. The design is brilliant because it allows you to cook with the hood open or closed. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that the rotisserie's speed cannot be adjusted. I think it's a little slow, and I'd speed it up. However, I would buy it again. If you want to rotisserie, there is nothing better than a Kamado style smoker.
