It comes with holes and anchors, but I used a pack of 12" anchors that I purchased on Amazon. It's still here where I live in southern New Mexico, the land of spring wind! In addition, I covered the boulder's lip with gravel.
Because it's plastic, and it's not too thick to cut, you should be able to do so.
Hello, I apologize for the delay in responding to you. The size of the base is approximately. The dimensions are 16" wide by 12" deep, with a height of approximately 14". 5". It's a perfect fit over my electric outlet by the bond. The rock has a lot of appeal.
Ours is in direct sunlight and has no odor or gas smell after being exposed to the heat for the entire day.

We were looking for something to cover a post with an electrical outlet and a lot of unsightly wires, and this seemed to fit the bill. We had to turn the rock a little, so it's a little off-kilter. Although it is off-kilter, it looks fantastic. After securing the rock in place, we shoved the wires inside, and everything seems to be working fine so far; the rock itself is sturdy and will provide adequate weather protection. Because the ground on which the rock sits is uneven, I had to get creative with the placement of real rocks around the base, but this only added to the'realistic' look. (Note: Someone made a remark about the rock's sticky label. I didn't have any issues with it on the rock, but I managed to get the label stuck on my granite counter top and had to use Goop Off to get it off! On the label adhesive, I think it's a little too much. ) There is one point I'd like to make. There are small stakes that are supposed to be hooked onto the rock and then anchored in the ground, but there are no holes in the rock, making the stakes useless.
Because the backflow preventer in front of our house was an eyesore, I had to cover it. To complete the task, I purchased this "rock. " It's a bit pricey for what you get, but that's life, I suppose. It came with a sticker that was extremely difficult to remove, as others have stated. I think I scrubbed and picked it off for an hour. This worked fine once it was removed; the only thing I would warn people about is the fact that it is narrower at the top than at the bottom. Ours just slid over the backflow preventer by a hair.
I dismissed another reviewer's comment about the label being difficult to remove, but knowing what I know now, I would not buy this product; it took me about 30 minutes to remove the label and the glue. I tried soap and water first, but it didn't work, so I dug out a bottle of glue remover I'd had for years and, after a lot of rubbing, it finally got rid of the glue. Then I had to scrub the paper and glue off my fingers with the same stuff. If the manufacturer had taken this step into consideration during installation, the overall rating would easily be 5 stars.
This rock does the job of protecting the exposed wires from being run over again and again! We weren't even going to use the light. These man-made rocks are one of my favorite ways to hide unsightly yard fixtures.
I like the natural look of this boulder to hide the sprinkler controls in my front yard; however, there are two holes near the bottom that are supposed to hold the included stakes that would hold the boulder to the ground, but they are missing. However, because I frequently need to access the sprinkler controls, I don't mind if the boulder isn't securely fastened. It's also unlikely that the boulder will blow away or be knocked over because of its location.
It comes with stakes, but no hole to stake it in, as the majority of people believe. It's fine for me because I'm using it to conceal an outdoor outlet, and the cord will keep it in place. In order to add a stake, I intend to drill a hole in the side. However, if you're just using it as a cover, be careful. Expect the stake to keep it in place; there are no holes or taps to keep it in place, so it could blow over or away. It looks nice and will do what I need it to do, but I doubt this is what most people are looking for, so I'm only giving it three stars. Also, I believe the size is smaller than they claim, so if you're in between sizes, you might want to go up a size; mine should have had plenty of extra room, but it barely fits over what I'm trying to cover.
It's difficult to get rid of it. The rocks had a large sticker on them that was difficult to remove and took an hour to wash off completely. Why? If you plan on working on this before putting it in your yard, don't order it.
I bought this for the low price to cover a pipe in my backyard that was sticking out of the ground, and it's worked out well so far. It does come with a couple of stakes, but there are no tabs to attach them to, so? It isn't too light, and it hasn't blown over yet. I'm not worried because I was planning on putting a few more rocks around it to blend in and wedge it down. If it's a concern for you, however, you might want to look elsewhere, or you could drill a hole or two into it if you're handy enough.
