Tillandsia, succulents, and some grasses are good choices for lava rock plants. Annuals, riparian plants, and indoor houseplants can all be grown in the larger planters.

Only the top of one small potted plant will fit in this bag.
It helped my succulents come back to life, but the amount you get is only enough for a thin top layer for 6 2" pots. For a rectangle planter (4"x12"), a dbl thick maybe 1/2" It seems a little pricey to me.

These rocks do a good job of keeping plant roots from soaking up water in the pot's bottom. I use it in a few of my small plants, mostly cactus, and it works wonderfully. I also use a small amount in the preparation of young, fresh orchids. The rocks are the perfect size for working with, and they appear to be natural and unadulterated.
For my Venus Fly Trap terrarium, I used this as the bottom layer. They have a nice reddish hue to them and are excellent at draining water.
