Last winter, I put the box outside and filled it with small holly bushes - There is no damage due to the winter. Early in the spring, I was able to easily remove the box and soil, as well as clean it.
I only placed two orders.
I don't have a green thumb, but I'm guessing that's the case. It is made entirely of plastic. The water is held in place. It's a substantial amount of information. I'm not sure if herbs and vegetables require anything else. …. It's certainly worth a shot, in my opinion. The cost is reasonable.
Because there were no drain holes on the bottom of the box, I drilled four drain holes with a 1/4" drill bit, allowing the water to drain both when planted and when not. I leave the dirt in the planted over the winter, fluff it in the spring, and replant as soon as the weather allows.

Throughout the summer, I believe he has refilled the reservoir twice. The flowers are absolutely lovely. On 6/19, I took the bottom photo. May was the month when the flowers were planted. We get a lot of compliments (photo at top). Spend a little more money and get the decorative brackets as well. It brings the whole ensemble together.
Stunning – In about an hour, my husband had it up and running. I wish we had known before we bought that if you're attaching to siding, you'll need to secure it to a wood slat.
Installed in front of a window that faces south. The heat causes warping. Yes, in our heat, getting a black window box was probably not the best idea, but I expected it to last at least a year. br>br>Self-watering is only effective on mature, deep-rooted plants that can reach deep enough into the moist soil. Annuals, which are the most common plants in window boxes, still need to be watered on a daily basis. Wasps love to build nests in the space between the window box overhang and the ground. Be wary of this house. To avoid this, I plan to cover the area with vinyl boards.
These were simple to put together, and they recommend using a slat of pressure-treated wood behind the window box if you're using vinyl. We bought some and spray painted the edges and sides black to match the boxes because, as you can see in the installation video, the wood is visible a little. The wood was painted black to make it appear as if it came with the kit. We also bought the decorative support brackets to go with it, even though they aren't necessary. They simply provided a finished look that we liked. There have been compliments from our neighbors. The purchase was a great success.
Before installing these, it was bare and had no pop. My husband was able to put them up in no time. br>Highly recommended!.
These are for a balcony with black wrought iron fencing that I purchased. They blend in, which is exactly what I wanted (despite the fact that they resemble coffins). I'm not sure how the "self-watering" works; the instructions made it seem complicated, and it required drilling holes, which I didn't want to do. One thing to keep in mind is that the planters are much smaller on the inside than they are on the outside, so the planting length isn't quite 3 feet. Overall, they appear to be doing their job, and depending on how they fare during the winter, I may buy more to line the balcony's ends.
I was hesitant to purchase these because they were a little pricey, but after making my own four years ago out of pretreated lumber, I didn't want to have to re-stain them every year as the sun faded them. br>br>Fast forward to delivery; they were incredibly simple to put together and look fantastic. br>br>I saw on the internet and in other reviews that people's glasses warped after they used them. I believe this is caused by water being left inside when the weather turns cold, and the flower box warps as a result. We haven't had them for more than four weeks, so I'll update again this winter/spring.
I couldn't find any comparable replacements, so after much searching, I purchased these. They're lovely, and filled with my spring/summer flowers, they're even more lovely. The self-watering feature is something I've never used before, and it's saved my plants from the scorching heat of summer. Although the installation was not difficult, it did necessitate accurate bracket placement and measuring. The planters simply slide into place once the brackets are in place. I'm so happy I came across these!.
