Questions & Answers

What country did you get it from?

It's a Chinese product. Drop forged is the style of the head. The pick head measures approximately 12 inches in length. The handle is made of fiberglass and measures 15 inches in length. about 3/4"

Is it just gravity holding it in place?

The pickhead slides into place and is held in place on the handle by the motion of using it.

I can't seem to keep the pick's head from slipping down the handle. What is the secret that I am unable to discover?

If you can separate the handle from the pick, shrink it by placing it in the freezer for a few hours. After that, invert the pick, grab the handle, and slam the fat end into a piece of wood on the concrete floor. The pick's weight will naturally cling to the shaft's handle. Don't be afraid to slam it down hard, as if you're trying to drive a nail with the handle's butt end. good luck

What is the width of the cutting edge when it is flat?

The fiberglass handle on mine is too big for the head, which is two inches wide. I attempted to hammer the head into place, but it usually comes loose and settles at a 75-degree angle. as opposed to a 90-degree angle In relation to the handle, it is at a 45-degree angle. While I find this a little annoying, it's still a useful tool for weeds with long tap roots. br>I have a full-time job that requires me to do something similar. mattock with a 3 1/4 in. diameter on the cutting edge

Product of excellent quality! This is a high-quality device
5/5

Fiberglass-handled tools have a long life expectancy, which I appreciate. Another preview's suggestion of freezing the handle for a few minutes before striking the end of the mattock against a hard surface to secure it worked perfectly. I used a piece of wood to strike it against the concrete, and it stayed put. In our hard clay soil, I use hand mattocks frequently, and I expect this well-made tool to last for many years.

Planting is simple enough for an older small woman
5/5

Instead of asking/waiting for my husband to have time to dig the holes, I bought this to make it easier for me to try and plant more plants myself. My hands are arthritic, and I am an older, small woman. What an excellent product for this purpose. It came with one of those short little shovels, which I purchased as well. It worked perfectly. Sit on the ground and pick a handful of berries. Get it out with a shovel. Plant. Stand up. This is a fantastic offer.

It is well-made
4/5

In the spring, I like to set up a small Basecamp somewhere close to home for those days when I just want to get out for the day without having to reinvent the wheel every time. Setting up a Basecamp is a snap with this little pick. Unfortunately, carrying it on a regular basis is a bit of a chore.

Very useful, but the spike end should be avoided
4/5

I've had to battle stubborn weeds or roots with a hammer, but the open V part of the hammer gets clogged, so I use this Mattock instead. Just be careful swinging that pointed end too close to your face, ouch! It would be nice if it came with a spike-covering safety rubber piece.

This is an excellent resource

Between my pickaxe and the smaller garden tools, this is the ideal compromise. I use it in my rock-hard soil and in tight spaces where a full-size pickaxe would cause damage.

I decided to replace an old, wooden-framed door with a metal-framed door. This is a handled pick that is very similar to this one. It appeals to me. If I had it to do over, I would change my mind about this choice.
